"Haven't even had my first evaluation an already messed up my therapy appointment and medications by rescheduling my original appointment by a month later than what I first made. Now I'm lefted with a gap in my psychiatrist and medications, despite my an my old place of therapy proactive measures. Not okay not cool"

"I am only 3 months into my treatment,and everyone is so absolutely kind. My therapist Rachel is so patient and gentle,knowing my fragile state. My nurse practitioner Leslie, has the soul of a "peace making angel of the medical field" and understands just where I am in my recovery. "I got a referral to this place many years ago, so take my experience with a grain of salt since places can change. After getting a referral from my doctor I went in and asked about alternative therapies like The Sinclair Method since I'd tried the traditional route and it didn't work for me. The first day they told me I had to go to a detox clinic. When I told them that I didn't want to go they told me I didn't have a choice. I had to tell them that since I was there voluntarily I absolutely did have a choice. What followed after that was three half hearted visits and being handed a pamphlet for AA style meetings and told I had to go to three meetings a week. I told them I didn't like AA and was told to select the secular meetings. I didn't go back. After missing my next meeting my wife got a call. She told me afterwards they were asking her if she felt like I was dangerous, that I might hurt her or my kids. They wanted to see if she would have me sent to detox against my will. I came away from the experience feeling like Horizon only knew how to deal with people who were there because of probation or some kind of DWI/DUI conviction. Many years later I was able to locate resources outside of New York State that allowed me to try the aforementioned Sinclair Method and it worked like a charm. I only wish I could have found help like this the first day I walked into that clinic."

"I've been going to Horizons on the Boulevard for about 7/8 months now. I've been very happy with my Therapist and the extra help I have been given. They have in house Psychiatrists and Home Healthcare Aids to help you manage the Social Services in the county, which is helpful. I only wish they had more groups to be involved in. Most of the groups they do have only pertain to Drugs and Alcohol, which is not what I need."
