"I had an awful experience with office staff. I was referred here by my PCP and told they sent the referral but to call to make an appointment to expedite things. I did so and the secretary said "what do you think our dr is going to do that yours didn't?". I said I don't know, I was referred to a specialist based on my PCP opinion. They told me they would have to review my chart to decide if they would allow me to schedule an appointment. They called the next day and said before we schedule "we need you to know we're not just going to give you 3 months of medicine if that's what you're thinking". I asked why that was being said as at no point did I make any statement other than "my dr referred me to a specialist due to symptoms and told me to call for an appointment. I made no request for medicine and have no idea what the result of a referral here for a possible disease could be" and she said "do you want to make an appointment or not". I said "I want to understand why I am being treated so aggressively based on a dr's referral and feel I should ask to be referred elsewhere" and she hung up. This experience was at best rude but felt extremely combative and passive aggressive. I have asked my dr for a referral elsewhere due to the way I was treated by office staff, prolonging care while dealing with serious health issues, which is why I had been referred to the specialist."
