"Homey atmosphere with basic facilities. Staff was very nice."
"Schenectady JCC has been great during the Covid Crisis. Since the beginning all Staff is made to wear masks and all members must wear them when not doing there specific activity(before the vaccination members had to wear them at all times except when in the pool). They have followed all state and federal mandates regarding cleaning and sanitizing. Their Daycare is amazing. in the beginning they had made all parents call the building and then would send the children out. now they do allow parents in the building to pick up their kids but only in certain areas. They make all members aware of any positive covid cases in their weekly news letter. Their front desk staff are really nice. The one who works on Tuesday nights is great. She always says hi to me by name and will ask about my family or just something off hand about something I said a few weeks ago. It feels like the SJCC people care about you as you and not just as a member. For some people they make look at the member price and say it's to much but when you put it against a fitness center rate and what you'll get the JCC price is fantastic. Your not just paying for the fitness center your also paying for the Pool and the classes. most fitness centers won't have all the classes that the JCC as for free with your membership. Other places will make you pay extra. Yes with covid the classes are less than they had been but every month or so they are filling out the schedule to be back to how it was normally."
"If you truly cared about everyone’s safety you wouldn’t be letting anyone in the building, staff members should be accepting kids at the door and taking their temperature before they go in. The gym should be shut down until this is all over, it’s pretty clear the members can’t be trusted to sanitize anything. No other daycare in the area is letting parents in and are screening kids at the door. We as parents warned and emailed our concerns two weeks ago that we thought this would start happening. We pulled our daughter immediately and switched child care providers. While no one can control covid JCC has failed to enact any real guidelines. Glad that the new daycare at the YMCA is following PROPER guidelines and not showboating and hiding cases up until now. Andy K, Andrea and the entire board should be ashamed of themselves. Just by the way they handle this situation I would say steer clear of this place for daycare as they try to hide covid positive cases for a the past few months."
"I paid for swimming lessons and it has been a terrible experience from the start. Lessons are a half hour long. Tuesday’s from 4:30 -5:00 pm. 1st lesson instructor was 10minutes late and finished 5 minutes early. 2nd lesson instructor didn’t show up at all so someone stepped in to do something in the pool with the kids. 3rd lesson girl came and was really unsure on what she really needed to do. 4th lesson I didn’t go my husband took him and now the rest of the parents are complaining also. Today the 5th lesson the girl that came to do lessons said she had never done a lesson and was unsure of what to do. This is not the young people fault that are being sent to do the classes. The person who is in charge should really refund everyone money because the kids really didn’t benefit from the lessons at all."
"I've had my daughter in the summer camp going into the fourth year. She really likes being there. I also like being a member of the gym and using the pool. What I like best is their all inclusive policy where, if you are human, you can join."
