"From the reviews I see that some things never change. I remember way back years ago in early 2000's my grandmother was having chest pain and we called a taxi to Our Lady of "NO" Mercy Hospital -aka- Montefiore Emergency Room and they had her and I sitting in the waiting room for the longest time. I spoke to triage and at that time I was told by a very nasty nurse that my grandmother needed to wait just like everyone else. She was having a heart attack and no one in Montefiore Emergency Room cared take her in the E.R. any sooner or check her vitals for heart attack symptoms. I never forgot that. My memory of that event said let me check the reviews hoping things have changed. It's a shame to read some of these reviews. When my son was young I remember the racist nurse in Montefiore E.R. who was so focused on telling me I should cut my sons hair and then she questioned me about my sons birthmark which she claimed looked like a bruise to her and then next thing you know my son was inpatient for pink eye, stuck in a caged crib, unnecessarily. I also remember we had to sit for a very long time as well for my daughter who had discharge coming out her ear. Another time, my youngest daughter ran through the house and hit the metal door frame with her head and split the skin open, she still has a scar to this day because some nurse in Montefiore E.R. used liquid stitches/skin adhesive wrong and put it in her cut instead of on top of the skin after you pull it together. This hospital really needs a new plan in place to help people. Whenever I think of Montefiore Hospital it triggers bad memories for me, for real. It's really sad to think that things have not improved at this hospital or for the community to have access to better Emergency care services."

"I wish I could give negative stars or no stars. I went into the ER Sunday and still have no medicine to treat me. They said my body is fighting an infection thats why my lymphnodes are swelling but after numerous tests, a second batch of blood work they tell me The test results will come back in the next few days, until then they can not give me any medication until they track down the source of the infection...understood. I get discharge with no medicine but a doctors note excusing me from work for the next 3 days. I figure I have a follow up appointment here, I believed they were going to set me up with one. Today I call the number and its for the Cardiology department! wrong department. I get the right number, no appointments until January unless someone cancelled. I must have been begging good on the phone and this woman had sympathy for my situation, got me an appointment for Monday. ER refuses to revise my note even though they know I have no medication to treat my current condition. They say it should just get better with time if anything... These people are just drug dealers for the government. The doctor who saw me only saw me for like 2-5 minutes and all he did was talk, didnt check anything. The PA did all the work, except when the nurses were unable to draw blood from me the second time they called someone with more experience to assist and he got it from my hands. If I can avoid coming to this ER ever again I definitely will even though its the closest one to home. The lower level staff seem like decent people but I spent a whole 5-6 hours there and didnt get anything to make me feel better. No answers, no medicine, just a bunch of nothing. Anyone with a positive review of this ER probably paid off some folks at the hospital or lying."

"This hospital is the worse especially when coming in to the emergency room, they sit you down no information for hours and when you ask a question, nobody ever knows anything. It’s empty in here, that makes it even worse now all you hear is conversations about family parties and vacations!!!! NOTHING ABOUT WORK!!"

"Walked in at 11pm currently still waiting to be seen in the emergency part I have a bad ear infection can’t hear it’s been discharging I’ve told them all the antibiotics I’ve gotten has not worked I think it’s something more they sit me in the waiting room for 3 hours under extreme pain I’ve had since 9pm I had to tell the nurse their are two patients in here waiting she tells me to go one of the rooms it’s not even cleaned I’m in tears I ask her for some medication just so it would help the waiting process haven’t seen her in 3 hours …. I’m in literal tears trying to wait I ask for the head nurse they are all busy dealing with critical clients but everyone is at a Desk ….. mind you I work in a hospital in labor and Delivery everyday and none of the RN we’re attending their stations only the nursing assistants were at least trying to help the patients the rest were literally walking around. Then want me to sign consent to treatment and didn’t even check in on me ask me what’s wrong but you guys wanna bill me ???? I REALLY ADVISE IF YOU ARE IN ANY EMERGENCY OR PAIN GO SOMEWHERE ELSE EVEN IF YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT GO SOMEWHERE ELSE THESE PEOPLE HERE DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU ITS JUST A PAY CHECK DO NOT COME HERE GO TO NEW ROCHELLE IF YOUR CLOSE OR COLUMBIA"

"The Emergency Department at this hospital is ridiculous. Came in 9/22/23 at 4am with my girlfriend who was in excruciating pain. We waited until 1pm to be told she needed an ultrasound. We left after 2:30 pm and came back with her at 5pm with the pain 10x more than it was before she was discharged earlier. We ended up waiting again for almost an hour with her in even more pain than before. We made it into the ER with her crying in pain and waited the next hour to get morphine for her pain. It's now 9/23/23 almost 4pm and they have her still waiting around to see if they will move her to a room or not or have her get surgery. This hospital EMERGENCY department has always been a mess with how they treat people and how bad they are at informing people of what's going on with them. Unless you're dying then they would actually try to help you in a timely manner."
