"Disclaimer: My block and head are currently at the shop. This review is solely about my current service, but I will update about the work when everything is completed. From what I can tell Hitches has very skilled employees who can do great work, and based on some research and experiences of people I know, I chose to come here. When I called before bringing in my components, I was told it would be roughly a month before they could get around to it, which was understandable since they did state they had 13 motors ahead of mine. It’s getting closer to 3 months now. However, I’m not overly concerned about this because I know this kind of job isn’t the easiest. Yet, I am ready to have this completed, so that I can get my car back on the road. I have called a few times to check on the progress and was greeted friendly enough on the phone. The work I am having done is expected to be pretty pricey, not because of labor costs but just the parts I am wanting to have installed. Hitches quoted labor costs are extremely reasonable, and honestly were some of the lowest I could find in 100 miles. My block has two cylinders that will need bored and possibly sleeved depending on the extent of the damage. Hitches is also preparing the entire short block using only the original crank. The pistons, rings, and rods are all being upgraded to forged steel parts. The head was originally worked on by another shop, but is getting a once-over by Hitches and also appears to need to have the buckets machined to fit the new cams. Again, I am hopefully to have this all completed soon, and will update my review in the near future about the quality of work and service provided to me. But for now, I will give them a 4/5. Pictures are of the dissembled motor before any work has been done. I will update with the finished work so that everyone can get a sense of the quality of work from Hitches as well as hopefully my excitement! Edit: I fired up the motor the other day and everything sounded well. Hitch repair services did a fantastic job and were reasonably priced. Just be aware that they seem to be extremely busy and is not a place to go if you’re looking for a very quick turnaround."

"Went to get my head refreshed and the guys told me it’d be 2 weeks before they even touch it, week later it’s sitting on my desk all shiny and nice, waited till after I slapped it on my car to leave this review, the guys were super friendly, super cool and explained to me how everything worked and what exactly they did to the head. I was running on 3.5 cylinders before but we’re back to 4 bangin thanks to hitch auto repair!! also, I’ve called around to every machine shop within the local area, this place has the best prices."

"Just wanted to say that this place probably had some of the worst customer service. For a machine shop, it was very clean and organized. I brought a BBC to get rebuilt after the timing chain had worn and slipped so much the pistons broke one of the valves. I had to take most of the motor apart to verify this, so when I brought it to them it was not all put together. The representative that greeted me was not overly enthusiastic about it, but it was a Friday afternoon. I was promised their staff would begin the build in 2-4 weeks, but that quickly turned into two months. I asked for a long block to be built, and for them to order whatever parts they felt like it would need. Throughout the process, I placed and received several calls from the shop, none of which were friendly by any means. By the end of the 3 month process (which is light speed in the “Covid” era), I had accrued a $2,400 tab. What I received was a halfway completed short block and rebuilt heads. Two of the bolt holes for the heads were stripped, and none of the threads were clean. The paint job was sloppy, and the heads were simply primered. I would not recommend this shop under the current management staff, although their staff seems highly skilled."
