"Dr Walker is the best psychiatrist I have ever seen. And I have seen a few in my life but he really takes you seriously in every word that you say and he has a memory like no other that I’ve ever seen. Lol I would advise anyone in the NRV area to see him. I was a train wreck when I called his number and I was in a full blown panic attack not only did he answer his phone he didn’t even know me and he was there to help me. I was very impressed with the way he handles his practice and he don’t put up with no bull he is very blunt and to the point but he’s doing it for your own good. If you want to help yourself and get better he’s your man. If you want to use him for a crutch it’s not happening this man is way to smart for that. He’s a 10 star Doctor on my chart but I can only give him 5. Go Hokies or Texas A&M lol!!!!"
"I was a patient of Dr. Walker for 2 years before he retired. He listened. He remembered a former patient who had experienced my diagnosis and he sent me to her doctor in NC who successfully treated my problem. His wife was always sweet and helpful when I called. He was sympathetic and gave me solid Biblical advice."
"Sometime around 1999 I was remodeling an office suite in a hospital. While doing demo work I came upon an article from a periodical that someone had saved; it was titled Reflection may help you understand yourself, from a writing titled Lifeworks, by John Ingram Walker,MD. Twenty years later, I have this article in my possession, and I read it from time to time. I have never met the man, but Dr. Walker's pithy article has helped me to understand why I sometimes feel contradictory to myself."
"Everytime someone is questioning therapy and wonders if they will end up with a bad psychologist I think of this man. I have seen many mental health providers and he stands alone as the worst. It is so bad that I seriously wondered if I got scammed. For one you cannot pay with a credit or debit card, it has to be cash...how many doctors offices have you gone to where that is the case. He is barely open and when I called during his stated business hours simply requesting a piece of paper confirming his own diagnosis his wife/receptionist answered and said sorry they were in their driveway packing for a trip. So the phone number attached to his business is just his wife's cell phone. Fifteen minutes later he called me back and I asked for the note confirming his diagnosis and he said "no I am not going to give you that" and hung up, I guess in a rush to get his vacation started. DO NOT go to him as a VT student or a member of NRV community, under no circumstances give this man your money, your time, or your personal story. He is the product of a very very dated time period in mental health and will not go one step out of his way to help you. A horrible experience and an absolute waste of a good amount of money."
