"Decided to try this place out since my usual stylist was on maternity leave and Ive heard so many great things about Jonathan. From the start, his communication is excellent - reached out to him via Instagram dms for a quote for me and a friend and he was extremely quick and responsive to my questions, which put me at ease. On the day of the appointment, process was very smooth — after a quick 10 min consultation with Jonathan, he got started right away. Fabulous hair colorist and savvy businessman - he really puts in the time and effort to make you feel good about your hair. Process was longer than I experienced in other places (6+ hours for 2 bleach sessions), but it’s bc his team meticulously would add olaplex to each bleach sesh and they used the bleach with lowest strength to protect hair integrity as much as possible — a tradeoff that is well worth the extra time imo. We did a photoshoot after our hair was finished and he directed us the whole way thru, which I’ve never done at hair salons before and it was actually really fun- I know its all for marketing, but I see it as having lasting professionally lit photos of my hair at its finest! He even took pictures of me and my friend together, which was a plus. Jonathan’s Characteristics that made the exp more pleasant: + he was patient when my friend wanted to apply makeup before taking photos, and + also appreciated his transparency- I asked about shampoos they had on sale and he didn’t push me to buy them at all, suggesting that what I was already using was fine. Overall cost: Bleach, toner, and haircut for $375, which is a steal in nyc! Would absolutely recommend Jonathan and this hair salon. Come with a friend for an even more fun experience- he creates a very accommodating and relaxed environment for a bestie self care day :)"

"As others have mentioned, you pay for the colorist, in my case Johnathan, but when you come in, it’s the assistance that do all the work. Not only that but the assistance neglected me and left bleach in my hair for an extended amount of time which caused my hair to be damaged, and gummy like when wet. Do not recommend at all and charge you and excessive amount. I’m addition, the color fades quickly like within days which is peculiar."

"It took me almost 7hours to get this hair done, I’ve never had this color before which I’m impressed with Jonathan’s skill. He’s talent with colors and my hair still health and smooth afterwards!! I was so concerned about bleach will damage my hair but the result shows me it’s not! The last pic is the color after few washed! I still love it!"

"If I could give it zero stars I would...This salon was a disappointment. Please don't be fooled by the pictures on Instagram... The assistant does all the work while tom mixes the colors. He likes to take credit as if he did the work. I payed $375 for my hair to not even last a week. He was willing to fix my hair free of charge. I felt very uncomfortable going back. The woman at the front desk claimed to say that my hair was looking good when I went there. I told her I was very upset at the way my hair looked and also told her it was blonde. She lied and said it was pink when it wasn’t. I have never had this happen before... He tries to make an excuse saying that it’s my fault that the color didn’t last. He was rolling his eyes and talking bad about me...He has gone up to me only to touch my hair and hit the top of my head while talking to his employer in another language. My hair is falling out, not only that but it wasn't fixed right. There were still blond strands of hair- when it should’ve been a purple to pink style. Tom seems to have his way of pushing customers away if he doesn’t like them for whatever reason. There is no way others go there to get their hair color only for it to last week! Don’t waste your time or your money on someone whose willing to scam you!"

"Jonathan is the best Asian hair colorist in nyc! Had my hair done 4 times and would recommend to those who are patient. My sessions generally take 8-10 hours but the results are amazing. Follow his instructions (use the free products he gives you!) to keep damaged hair alive. If you can’t maintain damaged hair, don’t get your hair colored."
