"I transferred my 401k in with no problems I bought Bitcoin and some Doge. Super easy…. The dashboard web app is great and super easy to use. They have been very responsive to me and the fees seem reasonable for self directed 401k."
"Enjoy yet another one star review, for keeping my funds locked up for over a month without processing my Roth conversion, nor letting me withdraw them. Nothing says robust financial institution like being unable to access your money indefinitely. Now that the business has been notified, I'll give them one week to resolve the issue before I notify the FTC."
"I'm surprised Alto has a 2.9 rating considering how poorly this company operates. They have people reviewing transfers who can't even pick up on simple issues. From the very beginning, my dealings with this company have been far from satisfactory, deserving less than a 1-star rating. The communication is terrible, the customer service is abysmal, and it's evident that their personnel workers are unqualified. I don't foresee a promising future for this company. I strongly recommend avoiding it."
"Like others, I never signed up for Alto IRA but rather my Lending Club account was transferred to Alto IRA. I immediately regretted it, as my Lending Club account was "free" in that there was no monthly/annual fee. But Alto immediately started charging me for there $100/year plan. I complained and they told me they waived the first year for Lending Club users and I just had to pay now and they would reimburse me. It took me THREE MONTHS of following up every 2 weeks to get reimbursed. Every time the guy responding told me it would happen very soon. Now that my account has fully dispersed into Alto, I can close it and be free. But of course on my way out, they're trying to charge me a $50 fee for closing. I NEVER SIGNED ANY AGREEMENTS WITH ALTO. LET ME GO. (for free)"
"It's next to impossible to get your funds transferred directly to another institution. The only way I was successful was to request a disbursement to myself and then immediately re-deposit the money into my custodial account somewhere else. They have taken money out of my account for fees I did not consent to and are now trying to charging me $50 just to close my account."
