"VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!! I have been in property management for over 25 years. My cousin is moving out of Regency Place Apartments and inquired to me as to how she needed to go about doing it because she hasn't had such a great experience living there. Because I understand the difficulty of the property management industry, I inform her to make sure her unit is clean, carpets are clean and there is no damage outside of normal wear and tear and to go and obtain a copy of her move walk through and move out instructions if any AND request a formal walk through of the unit with management to ensure she will know what if anything will be taken out of deposit or charged back to her. On the day she is suppose to do the walk through she received an email stating due to Covid guidelines she can not be present at the walkthrough and she should just leave the keys on the counter and they will mail her the final inspection report. Mind you this is 2023. Yes Covid is still present but really?? The office doesn't even require a person to wear a mask so why can't a person be present during a walk through? I then called to gain clarification from the Regional Manager Lisa England who was very short, rude and aloof with no care of customer service. This is the type of attitude that gives property managers and management a bad name. SMH"
"I resided at Regency Place Apartments for about four years… I moved in in 2016 after going by with a friend who was looking for an apartment. She decided on someplace else, but I loved it, and decided to move there. It was my very first apartment! I was able to get a two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment that was spacious, and very affordable. Among the many amenities that it had to offer, I loved my living room’s cathedral ceiling, my walk-in closets, my pantry and utility closet in the kitchen, and my fireplace for the winter months; as well, I loved my front and back patio spaces. (One of my favorite pastimes was gardening out front, setting up walkway lights and pretty flowers.) In addition to the apartment being all-out awesome, it was very conveniently located. I had access to food stores and restaurants, that were all within walking distance, and even places to take my dog. In the four years that I was at Regency Place, from 2016-2020, I loved my experience. If ever I were to move back to Durham, which I had hoped that I would be, I would certainly consider moving back there. I loved the people that I met at Regency Place… The staff was always very courteous, welcoming, considerate, helpful, and attentive, among other things; Morgan, Patrick, Jose, just to name a few. Whenever I had an issue, no matter the time of day or night, it was always taken care of expeditiously. The staff was always quick to get back to me whenever I called the maintenance line. As well, I was always made aware (ahead of time) if there were going to be any changes taking place, or if someone was going to need access to my apartment. I love how I always felt seen, heard, and acknowledged at Regency Place… Little things, like asking how I was doing, or how my family was doing, or how work was going. Even my dog, Dallas, was loved on so much anytime that we were seen out and about. (I know that he misses living there, too.) Unfortunately, due to a personal situation, I had to leave Regency Place and relocate, but I miss it every day. I would recommend Regency Place Apartments to anyone looking to live in the Durham area. For me, it was a wonderful first on-my-own experience, and I am very grateful to the persons, the staff, who helped make it so. ~ JS & D"
"Horrible Complex.... me and a friend of mines was interested in renting in this neighborhood but the manager and employees are very lazy. They had us complete all the necessary steps even give $200 holding fee just for them to never send a welcome letter. Then when we tried to get the money back they made up a sorry excuse about a 72hr time frame to make a decision that they never stated while we waited for a welcome letter (that never came). Horrible experience....."
"EDIT: If someone who works at the company has to rate it personally, the company must not be that great. I won't be moving here. My parents lived here a long time ago when the buildings were yellow. I was just a kid then. I went by today because I was interested in looking for a place for myself. I arrived at 3:30. When I got to the leasing office door, they were not open. It said they would return at 3. Again, it was already 3:30. About 5 minutes later, two young women (25 or younger I'm guessing, being 21 myself) came walking up the stairs as I was walking to my car. There was really no way to tell who they were. No name tags. Very casual attire. I asked: "Hi, are you two the leasing agents? I was interested in looking at a place for myself." One responded: "Yeah, but we don't have any models to show. We only show vacant units and don't have any to show." I said that was fine but I still wanted some information if that was okay. I wasn't the only person waiting. Judith, by the name on the card, only spent about 5 minutes with me. They were both nice enough but maybe I ruined their lunch since they walked in with Chick-Fil-A. I might still consider renting here but It was a weird interaction. The prices and layouts aren't that bad but I think if you're in the market for a one bedroom, you can definitely find better. Also, there was a cat in the leasing office. Penny, I think. Not a fan of cats myself but it didn't bother me. Just giving a heads up for someone who could possibly be allergic or who may have children who could be."
"Quiet, peaceful complex. Insects are a problem. Although they spray monthly, in the summer, it is not enough. Office hours may or may not be followed. The staff seem to come and go when they please. They are helpful when you can catch them. Too strict about small things, where paying tenants are actually punished. I couldn't take my niece to the pool because I didn't have a pool pass, that I never received. Cars can be towed, even if you are parking in YOUR space. I am a witness. This complex is good if you aren't home often."
