"I had the nicest time living in Cortland for a coupe years with my spouse and dog. Their location close to the American Tobacco Campus is the best! I always felt like I was losing something when we left this community. You can't ask for better management team than this. Whenever we had a problem or a question, Megan was always there to help. Glen, the maintenance manager, was excellent; if there was ever a problem with our apartment or appliances, one member of his team would be in no more than 30 minutes to fix it. Maybe it's because of their tremendous dog love that we feel more at home here! Every day, our dog had to stop by the leasing office to greet the whole staff, and they all gave her the treatment of a celebrity."
"MICE. Enough said. I first started seeing mice around the basement. A few weeks later, I started seeing them on the level below me. My unit is always clean and free of clutter so I never worried about mice being in my apartment. I left a clean apartment for 1 week during the Christmas holidays and came home to a mouse in my apartment. I have no idea how it got in, but I was given traps from leasing to try to catch it. Maintenance came in and laid down additional traps and followed whatever protocol the complex has for rodents. I went away again for a few weeks and emailed management regarding the status of the extermination and inspection of my unit. I was informed me that the mouse had been caught and maintenance had not found any additional mice but would continue to check the unit every couple of days. I returned from my trip and walked into my unit to the stench of a rotting mouse on a snap trap in my kitchen area. I emailed management immediately to question whether this was the same mouse they failed to dispose of from 3 weeks prior or if it was a new mouse. They informed me that it was a new mouse so they lied about checking my unit every couple of days because there wouldn’t have been a rotting mouse in my unit. They also informed me that they didn’t didn’t check and repair holes because it wasn’t placed in the work order. I originally signed a 15 month lease but after returning to the second dead mouse, I was at my breaking point and determined the unit was uninhabitable and decided to move. I ended up catching 2 additional mice. The garage gates are frequently broken and that invites crime into an unsecured garage. I’ve been told by other residents that cars were once vandalized quite often. I’ve lived in true luxury complexes and this isn’t one of them. The building seemed to be just slapped together with cheap materials that try to give off the appearance of quality. The walls are thin so noise can certainly be an issue. You can easily hear the personal conversations of your neighbors: hear their snoring, their tv, their alarms, their intimate moments, etc. The good thing is that Cortland allows you to “test out” the property for 45 days. If it is the place for you, you can break your lease without penalty. I wish I’d taken advantage of this earlier. This place is not worth your sanity."
"Thank you for making me feel at home, Cortland Bull City team! Much appreciation to Gregory for the wonderful apartment tour and for making my move as smooth as possible, with his attentiveness and patience. Josh and Devin are so quick to handle any maintenance issue. Nicchole turned a difficult situation into an easy one. Megan and Annette are always friendly faces. And Glenn creates a very safe environment. Thanks y’all!"
"Cortland Bull City is one of the best apartment complexes in downtown Durham! We have lived here for 2 years now, and it has been a wonderful experience. Particularly, the management is unparalleled. Megan, from the leasing office, and Glen the maintenance manager, have been incredible since the day we moved in. They are friendly, genuinely care about their tenants, and very responsive. Anytime they see me walking with my dog, they stop to pet her and ask how we are doing. Aside from the top-notch staff here, the apartments are beautiful, and the amenities are always clean. We have not had any major issues with either of the 2 units we have lived in; and pest control is not a problem here. They recently hired security to be present in the parking garage at night, which has been a nice addition. Overall, the complex is an easy walk to restaurants and the tobacco trail. I couldn't recommend Cortland enough for a beautiful place to live Downtown where your feedback is valued as a tenant."
"My entire move-in experience has been so smooth and stress free thanks to leasing staff Annette and her team. Communication has been A1 with Annette! She answered every e-mail and called me right back anytime I needed to leave a message by phone. Very knowledgeable about Cortland and what was needed for me to transfer to Cortland Bull City, and she has the patience of an angel lol! I can be really picky when it comes to my living quarters and I prob changed unit selection three times before finalizing my selection. However, Annette never got frustrated or never became short with answers. She kept the same cheerful/happy energy every time we talked, and took me on multiple tours of units until I found the one I loved. Each tour, she made me feel so at home already and made me feel good about not just settling and knowing what I want. Same energy with the whole leasing staff and property manager Nicole! The exterior/interior of the apartments are beautiful, and they are very close to everything downtown. Excited about my new journey here. Thank you guys so much for all of your help through this process!=)"
