"I lived there for 7 years, and i moved out back in April, because I have mold in the apartment, which is spreading. I talked with Chris, about this, and we would communicate, but then he'd lie to the property manager about everything. Bad communication, kept getting sick from the mold. I had an air quality test done and it said to wear a respirator in the apartment at all times. Chris gave me an industrial fan and a dehumidifier, for one day. I was fine up until this issue last year, and from last April to this April-it was getting worse. Good to know this company doesn't even care about their residents health and safety."
"Not a good place to live. The roach infestation was disgusting, and we even had a rat in our apartment that thankfully the cat got. When we moved out - by professional movers from the NAVY - they assured us that we left 4 bags of trash. We did not. They had no proof, but still billed us over $100. Such a scam. Don't live here.!"
"My experience at Avana on Broad so far has been highly mixed. I like the community and its amenities (even though I don’t take advantage of them). However, I’ve tried to be patient and understanding but I’m at my breaking point. I’ve lived here for a month now and I’m not happy. I haven’t had good sleep since I moved in, and it’s all because of my upstairs neighbors. They are loud at all hours, yelling, stomping, and laughing--day and night. I don’t have this issue with any of my other neighbors that I share a wall with. Sometimes I have to go out for a drive to get away from the noise. While I was moving in, I noticed their balcony door was open. They were loudly talking and it smelled heavily of weed. It's been downhill since then. I’m very disappointed by the lack of engagement from management. They claimed that they sent noise violations to them but either my neighbors don't care or the notices are going to someone else (which has happened). Whatever management is doing is not getting the point across to them. I used to live in an unbearably loud place—it was traumatic. Now I’m here, in a similar situation again… I signed a lease for 15 months and I refuse to put up with the noise for that long. When I first moved in, management asked me to leave a review here but I told them my concerns and that I would leave a review once things got better. At first, they were very understanding and wanted to know the details of my situation. Unfortunately, things never got better. I have complained about my upstairs neighbors multiple times about their disruptive behavior and I have gotten little to no follow-up from management. Whoever is in charge feels unreachable. I’ve emailed them and sent them recordings of my neighbors' behavior, I even went to the front office and for some reason, no one is taking my concerns seriously. It feels like my issues are being swept under a rug. It feels like borderline harassment by how many times I've brought up my issues to them. I’m not asking them to be obsequious, I just need a timely response and something actually done about it. I almost don’t want to renew my lease here. Honestly, if you're thinking about moving here, get a second opinion."
"I lived at Avana on Broad for 3 years, and recently moved out this month. I liked my apartment. It had lots of storage and was spacious. Maintenance was decent and I was lucky not to have too many issues. However, I feel that their website can be quite misleading about amenities. It advertises TWO “resort” pools. One pool has been closed for the entire 3 years I have lived there. And the other pool has been closed for a solid month in the middle of summer. If you want a pool, do not choose this apartment complex. The apartment gym is below average and never has anything to clean the equipment with. It is very dirty. (Pictures- The dirt on my legs after working out in the gym.) Along with the bathrooms in the clubhouse. Gross! Glad I moved out when I did as they’re adding another $15 a month fee for package delivery. On top of a 25% rent increase. Not great communication either. Emails from the company often read like I was being reprimanded as a child My experience worsened when Greystar took over and became Avana on Broad. There are things that need to be improved."
