Swannanoa Cleaners

"How many text messages do you get in a day? How many are from friends, family, doctors, vets, drugstores, town council, business clients, politicians, and new solicitations? Personally I get several hundred daily, they are broken into known, and unkown. So when you are out of town on vacation how connected do you want to stay to your electronic devices? And to unknown solicitations? So here I am on vacation, I dropped two items off at this dry cleaners. I call to ask if they are ready. From my perspective the conversation goes like this. Me: I am calling to find out if my items are ready. Rainbow Hair: We sent you a text. Me: Lady, I receive 100’s of text’s daily. Rainbow Hair: You are very rude.I will not be spoken to in that manner. Me: Is there a manager around? Rainbow Hair: I am the manager. You don’t get to speak with me like that. And then the line goes dead. Rainbow Hair is a woman. Did she not like being called “Lady”? Did she resent being the manager that day? Was she too busy at the counter and overwhelmed by customers? Or was she is such a bad mood that helping out a customer, let me clarify that, a NEW customer, unaccustomed to how they do business or even what their phone number is for sending out a text. Businesses still have landlines. I do not know the culture here, except to say this was the most ridculous experience I have had during my two week vacation. And so it went. I did go and pick up my two items. Which cost $25.00, so not an inexpensive purchase. Rainbow Hair was still in a lousy mood when I got there. I get it some days we all wake up on the wrong side of the bed. Some nights our vibrators don’t work or we had a fight with our partner or significant other. But customer service, means SERVICE, first and foremost. So get a grip. Being pleasant doesn’t cost that much, people come into a dry cleaners pick up, drop off and leave. They are not hanging out for hours. So unless you lost their items or a button, the exchange is at best kept to a minimum. I hope her life gets better. What can I say Asheville has treated me well and I it. My vacay has been awesome."

We stumbled upon Swannanoa Cleaners on Merrimon 3 years ago and have never been disappointed. While we don’t get same-day service, we have zero complaints with the usual two-day turnaround here. Our orders are always ready on time, they’ve never lost anything, the drive-thru option is clutch, and the service is outstanding and consistent."

"Been using Swannanoa Cleaners for 30 years now...Merrimon Ave for 20. Fantastic service and friendly staff. Always dependable, and often has clothes ready earlier than promised. Rare problems (maybe 2 in 30 years??) have been handled immediately. Have used them for regular suits, shirts, etc, but also for odd items, and winter coat storage. Staff knows me by name, and are great people. Look forward to seeing them! Well-run business. Easy to get in and out, too. Drive-thru is super convenient!"
