"As a 64.5 year old widow who just recently returned back to my home state of NC from Florida back in 2022, I was looking to buy another house. I landed in an apartment complex in Clayton near my family. It has been a terrible experience, so I started looking for small houses to buy in the Brunswick County, NC area. I specifically liked Bolivia and Calabash. I looked at many communities with different builders and I discovered 1) the customer service that I received from each community was less than stellar and 2) I was not going to pay a house payment at 7.15% for 30 years, since I am retiring in the near future. By luck, I asked for information about River Rock 55+ rental community in Calabash and immediately received information and knew I had finally found my "home." The 2 bedroom rental unit was exactly what I was looking for and was larger than some of the houses that I had been looking at. I didn't have to take care of any yard, didn't have to buy a new refrigerator and washer and dryer, will have nobody living on top of me and since the floors are all hard, I won't have to worry about carpet cleaning which is a welcome change since I have a 1 year old dog and a cat. But, what sold me most on the property was Colleen, the property manager. Her excitement and enthusiasm were contagious and her customer service was spectacular. She answered every question that I had and was wonderful during my onsite visit. Much better customer service than I received from any agent at the communities where I visited. Plus, I'm going to love living with people with whom I have much more in common. I got to pick out my unit that I wanted and toured the neighborhood. Drucker and Falk, a well established management company, was very smart in building this rental community for those of us who are over 55 and want to downsize and no longer be responsible for home maintenance and yard care. Its also in a very desirable area, in my opinion anyway, as I will be able to take my dog walking on any of the numerous beaches within 5 minutes. If I want to go shopping, I can go to Wilmington or Myrtle Beach very quickly and easily. At this point in my life, River Rock is exactly what I was looking for and I thank Colleen for not treating me like just another person, but making me feel special. Her excitement for this community made me realize that this will be my new home for the next 18 months! Thank you Colleen for everything!"
