"I have been trying to find a no kill shelter. I don't like the fact that Wilkes Animal Shelter puts the ones that don't get adopted in a room and turns on the gas, and they are gassed until they die. I think that's cruel, and quite frankly, it disgusts me. I wonder how they sleep at night. Anyway, I tried to surrender my bunch because I can't afford to take care of all of them, and I have more on the way. These folks in Boone take them in by appointment only and only for their county. That's fair, and I understand. I just need some help before this situation becomes worse. They did give me alternative solutions in which I am currently looking into. Overall experience with them was good. I know that they would have helped me if they were able to. The staff is friendly and informative. Thank you all for the help."

The paperwork was a little extensive but we actually really appreciated that because we know how well they care for the animals and they only want the best for each one.
