"In the middle of downtown Durham, The Durham Hotel stands as a testament to modern luxury and urban sophistication, providing an exquisite backdrop for the weddings I've shot there and earning it a well-deserved five-star rating. Mid-century charm and contemporary design, set the stage for truly timeless wedding photos. The hotel's attentive and professional staff ensured that every aspect of the weddings, from planning to execution, was handled seamlessly. The rooms, styled with chic decor and offering breathtaking views of the city, provided a great photo spot for getting ready photos and the reception. The rooftop is always a hit, adding a unique view of the downtown Durham skyline. With its blend of modern aesthetics, exceptional service, and culinary excellence, this boutique hotel offers an urban oasis for creating weddings in style. Highly recommended for those couples looking to elevate their wedding experience in the heart of Durham."
"I had the best stay at this hotel recently! The staff and service is unmatched, I have never felt so welcomed and comfortable at a hotel before. They went above and beyond to accommodate us in any way that they could. The food is incredible as well! I loved the coffee service in the morning. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. They provided everything you could need on a trip and more! I will definitely be recommending this hotel and rebooking a visit for myself soon."
"Updated, clean, comfortable, close to everything, good bar, good coffee. Rooftop drinks are a good time but great to get oysters too. Bryce is a top tier bartender- great cocktails and the right amount of engagement."
"The hotel has a lot of charm. Apparently it’s an old bank which means the building is old, so keep that in mind. I stayed one night. My room was clean. The carpet actually looked new or freshly shampooed. Although the room did need a little paint and the window had mold/mildew. The body wash and lotion in the room were nice and I rarely use what hotels have in the room but I was a lazy packer. For someone reason everyone we encountered that worked there were not friendly except the gentleman that checked us in. He was great! I spoke to a man at the front desk, he looked angry and he didn’t speak back. We asked one of the host, for a table at the restaurant and her response to “do you have a table for two” was basically just “no”. It was an awkward exchange because she didn’t say when one would be available. As guest at the hotel it was weird that we couldn’t get a table at the restaurant and she wasn’t worried about it whatsoever. The bed was comfortable and they included a shower cap! I travel with one, but it’s nice when hotels have them. They valet which is great. I would stay again, hopefully their employees are better next time. Except my guy with the ponytail. He understands customer service!"
"Stayed here recently and really love this hotel. I was originally drawn to the history and mid-century modern aesthetic and that didn't disappoint at all. But add to that great, very friendly staff, the perfect location, and the very large and lively rooftop bar and this just has a perfect combo of things for a trip to Durham (which we really enjoyed as well). There was a great breakfast in the lobby to order and we spent evenings (after dinner - also close by) hanging out on the side patio people watching as well as the top floor patio/bar. There is a lot to do in the immediate area. The rooms are comfortable and really well decorated. If you love mid century design you really need to stay here. Much more fun and unique stay than a typical hotel. There's a parking garage very close by if you don't want to valet. We didn't even need to use the car for our three day trip there was so much to do and see within walking distance."
