"It’s a little older hotel, but well kept and clean. Staff were friendly and communicated quickly and filled our requests. Boardwalk to the beach is just at the edge of the parking lot. We did not use the outdoor pool, but it looked clean and nice. Short walk to the fishing pier. Short drive to Ft. Fisher where the aquarium is, and where you can get a pass to drive on the beach."
"It was another wonderful stay. Location is great with easy access to the beach an to see the beautiful sunrise! If we needed anything it was there in less then 10 min. I would recommend this motel to anyone. Thank you!"
"Dave, the maintenance guy was the best. The room smelled very musty and he quickly brought us up a dehumidifier. It helped alot. All the staff was super kind and helpful. The room was cozy and quaint. The beds could have been firmer. Not bad for a beachfront motel."
"We stayed in an oceanfront standard room at The Sand Dunes, and had a wonderful stay! Our room was very clean and nicely updated. The beds were comfortable, and the kitchenette had everything we needed to prepare meals in our room. We absolutely loved the balcony and view of the ocean! The property itself is clean, quiet, and well maintained. Pool is great, with lounge chairs and patio tables to use. Staff is friendly and attentive, and loved the easy check in process. Great location. This was an excellent place for the kids! We will definitely book a stay here again. Highly recommend!"
"We stayed at the sand dunes hotel for about 6 days. We are a family of 6 and were on the first floor close to the parking lot by the street. We had 2 rooms separated by a door so we fit comfortably. With that being said there wasn’t quite enough dishes for all 6 of us at 1 time however, we didn’t bother asking for more. The rooms were very clean except for a few stains on the comforters and the couch cushions. The beds were not comfortable. There aren’t any curtains for the windows and at night the hallways are well lit. Overall there was not enough storage in the kitchen or bathrooms and the doors were difficult to open and close especially for the little ones. We were supposed to check in at 3 but we couldn’t until 4pm but checking out is at 10am. I feel like maybe with the hour later check in the check out time could’ve been a little later (complimentary for the delay of checking in?). Checking in and out was a breeze. No waiting at a desk or key. The parking lot is a little tricky especially if there are longer vehicles or people that park incorrectly but we always had a spot. The hotel is conveniently located near the pier, arcade, convenient store, bar, restaurant and even a small park area for the kids. With all this being said we really enjoyed our stay and family vacation. These are just minor things that could be fixed or adjusted but we would recommend this hotel to anyone."
