"This is a comfortable, value property in Highlands. Convenient to the main drag. Pleasant staff. I understand ownership was changing around the time of my last visit, so I expect some room renovations and probably price increases. I've stayed here twice in the past 18 months and would do it again."
"Stayed here twenty years ago after our wedding when it was a Hampton Inn. Came back twenty years later and it's definitely showing it's age but the fireplaces are still a nice touch. They are supposed to be undergoing renovations soon, can't wait to see what they do!"
"Overall: A fine hotel and met all of our needs, just not as high-end as the price suggests. The good: Friendly and helpful staff, plus a great location. Right off the main highlands "strip", with easy access to trails around the area and plenty of parking. Reasonable rates given the area and other nearby options, but definitely more expensive than what you'd expect given the age of the hotel. The not-so-good: Upon arrival, the room smelled not-so-great and came to find a rotten piece of fruit under the bed. It was many many days old and was dry, but definitely added to the smell of the room (threw it away and the smell went away after a day). The hotel definitely shows it's age, which will turn off a lot of people. No breakfast, thin walls, and the wifi is questionable at times."
"Ok I admit very skeptical about staying here . Trying to spend money on experience vs room that we were only sleeping . Ok here goes . Basic , clean sheets, firm mattress , clean room , TV with cable , blow dryer that was mounted on wall did not work , use the additional one in room . Plug loose in bath . Lobby , coffee only in morning , dated and a bit worn , nice fireplace , gave cozy atmosphere . Staff , helpful and knowledgeable, the young Aussie lady and male staff helped us with getting our key to work in our room . We were informed that starting next month renovations will start . If you want basic and not spend 400 a night this is more than adequate , if you want plush and luxurious this is not it . The location is wonderful !!"
"The weekend rate is $250 per night. For that price I expect better accommodations. The rooms are very dated - the shower tiles were originally pink but have been painted over with peeling green/gray paint. The carpet felt sticky and the room had a chemical odor. The caulking around the tub was dirty and moldy. If the door was not closed firmly, it would not lock. The hot tub appears to have been out of service for quite some time. It was covered and the cover had a hole in it. Our room did not have washcloths or hand towels. The location is close to downtown but other than that, the price is not justified."
