"We went in September and the Yellow Jackets were territorial but that’s to be expected. As of September 2023, the second bridge is impassible for many. It’s broken and very rickety. Hopefully the Forest Service will repair it soon. The hike is short but steep. A good workout indeed. The area is deep in the forest and incredibly beautiful. You’re probably going to need a truck or SUV with 4-wheel Drive to make it to the trail head, especially when the roads are washed out in rain or snow."
"A beautiful view with a relatively easy walk to get there. It can be wet so prepare for that ahead of time. I spotted dozens of butterflies along the way during the summer months! Flowers are abundant on this trail. It's quite magical! The entrance to the waterfall is a steep step down so I'd recommend not going alone if you have concerns."
"Well worth the journey. The last 3 miles or so of the drive to the trailhead is on a gravel road, but it is passable by passenger cars. The trailhead itself is not marked well. On the side of the road, right at the intersection with another road, there is a large oak tree with a blue stripe of spray paint. The sign for the trail is about 6 or so behind that tree. The trail leads down to Holcomb Creek falls, and the hike is all downhill. Perhaps a half mile or so out. The falls are about 100 ft or so tall. It was flowing very well when we were there on a rainy day. When you get to those falls, the trail also continues on the other side of the creek and goes to Ammons falls. That trail eventually splits. The trick is to take the right trail at the split. It goes to Ammons falls, which is about half as high, but very pretty as well."
"Loved this place. Nice 2 waterfalls. Very less ppl go here so u get a private waterfall for urself. Don't start hiking from Holcomb creek fall point as u might have to climb the whole way until exit, instead start from end hike point before reaching that Holcomb trail(both hiking point on left side of road, if u find the trail point on ur right then walk 10 min or less to find the Ammons falls trail start point on the same side of the road). If u r starting from Holcomb fall then keep left all the way until u find Ammons fall and until end, if starting from Ammons falls keep right until Holcomb falls. Both falls are closer to the start points. Very beautiful place for hike and play under water."
"This is a remote, moderately intense hike that's got lots of variety and lots of WATERFALL. No facilities. When we visited the viewing platform for the main waterfall was literally a shambles from being destroyed by weather, but it was under construction to be rebuilt (July 2022) Access roads from North and South are fine."
