"A little hidden gem. Strenuous but not over the top. Beautiful country and well marked. Will spend more time on it soon. Parking is around the corner underneath the bridge."
"A Beautiful Trail to see... well kept considering the area as we drove a Ford Flex and had no issue at all."
"Over the years I’ve traveled I-40 I never realized how close I was to the Appalachian Trail until I was forced to slow down due to high gas prices. It’s a blessing and a curse I guess because if not for the high gas prices I wouldn’t have seen the greatness this country has to offer. So, thank you? By the way if someone comes across my expensive blue Contigo cup I just purchased a month ago from Walmart, know it will be missed. As soon as I’m able I’m going to buy a Coleman type canteen so I can lay it across my shoulder while walking the dogs and taking pictures. It was an expensive lesson to learn. I’ll give everyone a hint on where I left it. It’s where the trolls live, out in the open and easy to spot. Anyway, on with the review. I hiked as high on the Appalachian Trail as my ailing body would let me which wasn’t very far. I can handle level ground and some hills but this trail is not for the disabled, though it was very beautiful. The people rafting and the employees were kind and courteous which made my short stay pleasant especially after going through unpleasantness from a short time earlier. There is really no room for large RVs in this area. Mine was fine but when the canoe busses would pass it was a little tight. I found a large enough spot to park so I could walk the trail and so I can say that I was on it. I wish I had more time and energy to hike more of this trail. The dogs were loving it."
"AT at TN I40 Convenient to interstate and Big Pigeon river No parking. Very rural. No amenities."
"It's a real place, it's a hidden trail that looks like stairs going up the side of the mountain from the road. There is a sign a few stairs up that talks about the trail and someone even leaves bottles of water for the hikers that travel up! You need good, comfortable hiking shoes, pack light with only the needs for hiking and maybe a good walking stick! I highly recommend bug spray!"
