"You can believe what the other reviews say about this trail, lots of rocks and lots of roots. Took one hour and 45 minutes to make it to the falls (I'm 67 and out of shape and overweight and have asthma) with several stops along the trail to catch my breath. Several Creek crossings along the way some with Log bridges some without. And yes the side trail down to henwallow falls is steep with lots of rocks and roots."
"This is a beautiful hike with several footbridges over streams. The climb is steady but not steep and there aren’t huge rocks to climb over, BUT there are large areas of the trail choked with a tangle of roots. It didn’t bother me so much on the way up, but after visiting the falls on the way down I was totally over it. The total length we hiked was 4.8 miles, the elevation gain ended up being just over 1,100 feet and I felt beat up at the end because of all the slipping, toe stubbing and tripping over roots on loose rocks. We enjoyed the hike very much but probably won’t do that one again."
"Gorgeous, moderately challenging hike to Hen Wallows Falls. Even with the rain the last couple of days the falls was pretty but not overflowing as I expected. Within the first 3/10 of mile a gorgeous foot bridge over rocks flowing with water. Would be a great place to soak your feet or climb and explore the creek."
"The hike up to Hen Wallow Falls is on the difficult side of moderate. It’s a beautiful hike to a lovely waterfall. Once you walk down to the falls you will have to hike back up to the trail; this very short uphill is steep and challenging. Overall, a great hike of just over 4 miles and it took us about 2.25 hours."
"We hiked to the falls and back. It was about 4.5 miles round trip I think. The trail path varies from fairly smooth in a few spots to very rooty and rocky. The trail is mostly uphill on the way to the falls, and downhill on the way back - mostly. The falls were nothing special but the hike was the reward."
