Reviews of Meytre Grist Mill
"This is a cool-looking old mill. It's amazing that it's still standing! It sits next to a lovely waterall, surrounded by trees and walking trails. You can enter the area from opposite sides of the park and walk around fairly easily. I didn't try going down to the base of the mill, so I can't give advice on the trail getting there. This hidden spot would be a wonderful place for a picnic and to just enjoy the beauty around you."
"Just beauutiful. Lots of people - all ages, races, and creeds - enjoying the cold water in a scalding hot day. It was an absolutely beautiful sight!!!"
"Very nice area; the mill is a great historical gem beside the impressive falls; lots of photogenic natural beauty. The Meytre Mill is located in the middle of McGalliard Falls Park; Falls Rd takes you to the parking area just SW of the falls (you'll hear the water), and McGalliard Park Ave takes you to a lot in front of a baseball field just east of the mill. Though there's a gate at the falls access, the mill is accessible from here, as well as from Falls Park. It's recommended to park at Falls Park; as the area offers restrooms behind the cabin building, as well as covered seating spots and park benches. The area is very clean, well maintained, and the trails to and around the falls are pretty walkable...but be careful going to the bottom of the falls; the slope down the hill is not very maintained and can be treacherous. While the mill building itself and the waterwheel are posted no trespassing, they are interesting old remains to visit. The falls themselves are gorgeous! Also, be aware that they post 'no swimming' and 'do not climb on rocks' signs in several areas...I saw a few waders out there, as well as a snake or two. Overall a peaceful little place to visit!"
