"My first time trying this place since it changed its name. We ordered tamales, tacos and a torta. Tamales taste authentic, much larger than what I’m used too, but that’s a plus. Torta had a lot of meat, very good. Tacos were also very good, and loaded with meat. I enjoyed the salsa verde and the spicy red salsa as well. I’ve been hoping for a good authentic Mexican spot in Whitestone so I don’t have to drive to College Point or Corona, so glad I gave this place another chance."
"I’ve been meaning to come here when it was El Morelense so finally made the trip now that it is Zhumi. Food is so tasty and I knew it was going to be good from recommendations by others but it was better than expectations…when I do my happy food dance at the first bite you know it’s good. I had the Al Pastor Tostada and Beef Mulita (first time trying a Mulita) and I really liked they weren’t greasy, especially the pork. The meat was not dried out, which I’ve experienced at other places. I added their green (mild spice) and red (hot/spicy) sauces which added another layer of flavor. Because it was still breakfast time, I also had the complimentary coffee - strong but not bitter. My boyfriend ordered the horchata and it was so good - there was a creaminess to it and not too sweet. Horchata I’ve had at other places are watered down and too sweet. I really wanted to have a donut but was stuffed so will try next time. There are so many other dishes to try!"
"Great place to enjoy Mexican food. Portions are served with care and lots of flavor. The family owned restaurant is new, but their passion for food is noticed in the way they bake their own bread and dishes. I had a mulita, which had the perfect amount of meat, and the sauce on the side was delicious and spicy. I also took home some bread for breakfast. Service is great, and there is also a little section for candies and books, yes books. I will definitely go back."
"I thought I was being biased bc this is close to me but it's really one of the best Mexican spots I've tried in NY, and I've tried a lot. Even better than some I've tried in Cancun. I usually get pastor, enchilada, and carnitas tacos. Today I had camaron too and damn Good. And the staff is always so courteous."
