"My new favorite restaurant in NYC. Seriously, some of the best food I've had in a while, made and served with obvious care and sincerity. The atmosphere was wonderful, and all of the people were incredibly friendly. All of food was very fresh and full of flavor. The cherry pie was the whole table's particular standout: deliciously warm, tart, and crispy. Super easy location to get to by subway from anywhere in the city, especially Manhattan. Definitely worth the visit."
"Let me tell you about my most favorite meal in nyc in a long while. I originally noticed this place by running past it on a warm summer day. The food atop each table looked mouthwatering and I knew I had to try it. After meeting someone From Serbia, and then realizing Selo is Serbian/croation/Mediterranean food, I know it was fate. We visited Selo on 11/14. There were two other tables sitting when we came around 5:45pm. The lighting dim, with Romanian/Serbian inspired decor in deep yellow/orange color. Our server was from Montenegro, just to the left of Belgrade. Absolutely amazing service from the second we walked in. We ordered a Serbian beer and I a hot water as I always do. For appetizers, we tried the charcuterie, bruschetta, and the octopus. The meat and cheeses BLEW ME AWAY. I still look forward to tasting this dish again. It was incredible, all imported and full of character in each bite. I don't eat octopus but my sister really enjoyed the octopus. The bruschetta was pretty straight forward and delicious. very fresh. We had the traditional Serbian cucumber and tomatoe salad paired with soup for one entree. I got the nocchi, and we also tried the stuffed pepper in mashed potato's. Every plate was different and just as delicious as the next. They all tastes home made/made with love. It seemed like a family business. The owner mentioned every Saturday is Serbian night and we should come as many Montenegros also join that evening for traditional music and dancing. The absolutely beautiful desert consisted of euro cream (you can get Nutella also) crepes and jam crepes. We originally got them to go for our mom, but had to try them, and could not stop eating them. SOOOO GOOOD. Crepes or "pancakes" in Serbian culture are huge, when I tell you they go crazy over them.... And I see why. All in all I really look forward to coming back to Selo. You should absolutely stop by for an incredible meal."
"I wanted to visit this restaurant for a long time since I've never had a Crotian food before. Tonight I had the chance to finally have a dinner here. We ordered burek as an appetizer and stuffed pepper, karadjordjeva with veal as main dishes. I liked the service, but we were the only customers in the entire resturant around 6pm, which felt little weird. I might be mistaken, but the burek felt like a frozen food rather than homemade. My friend found the veal very stiff and could not finish her plate. I personally really liked the stuff pepper. Thus, I decided to give 4 stars as my final evaluation."
"The grilled octopus is a must. It did not tasted fishy. I could eat it all by myself. I drool looking at the pictures. The dish that didn't hit the spot was the pork. When my friend got it before, the cheese oozed out and was much more moist. This time felt overcooked. Overall a nice local restaurant serving up some tasty dishes. Appreciated the house wine and hospitality. Server was helpful but service on the slower side. two gendered restrooms."
