Reviews of Spence Ridge Trailhead
"The views are absolutely gorgeous! My issues were how poorly blazed it was and the western sections were very overgrown. At one intersection, there were three or four paths with no signage or color blazing on the trees. If you attempt this hike, please do yourself a favor and use all trails or some other kind of GPS to make sure you stay on the trail you want to stay on. Also, the ride up is pretty rough on sedans. I'd recommend a truck or SUV."
"About a mile and a half in length. Moderate to difficult depending on your fitness level. I weigh a decent bit, but was able to go down to the river and back in one day. The trail itself is beautiful, but be ready for a rocky environment. Bring good, comfortable shoes and lots of water. Stay hydrated my friends."
"The perfect spot for summer! Bridge is out, but if you’re feeling adventurous you can cross the river and keep following the trail.!"
"Gorgeous scenery. Several campsites along the way and a short drive or a half days hike depending on pace to the tablerock summit trailhead. I love linville gorge and will return soon!"
"I get a little discouraged when I get the easy part of a hike done first, but that happens with rivers. The bridge is out and couldn't cross without, so who knows what lays on the other side. But, the river is awesome and huge. Would be a great swimming hole for summer."
