Reviews
"Horrible place to take out kayaks. Eroded, steep bank. Homeless camps and other shady characters. Do NOT recommend any FEMALE alone to visit here."
"Nice little area with plenty of unpaved parking space. I don't recall seeing marked handicap parking space(s). Haven't ventured to see where the river access is at but like the other parts of the park, the trail is paved. I didn't see any restrooms in the area. I think the area feels too secluded for my liking. When leaving, be careful and look out for on coming traffic on 18 because the exit and entry is a one way in, one way out type of thing and on a semi steep incline."
"Excellent paved trail for bicycling, walking/jogging plus many fishing spots along its four mile course. The trail is mostly level with only a few inclines that are neither steep nor long, anyone in reasonably decent health should have no issues traversing the course by whatever means they choose, whether on foot or on wheels."
"There is only one way to turn into this entrance from the one way traffic; coming from downtown Morganton you can see the entrance on the left from the right hand side of the road; just cross the bridge over the Catawba River and turn at the next left hand exit way. Easy enough; you must follow one way traffic to do this turn about. This area is just a parking area mostly. A good place to find the end/terminus to the walking/bicycle path beginning the Catawba River Greenway Trail; pretty. The kayak/boat entrance is down a dirt road about .1 miles into small slippery trails to the river access. Looks like at good place to get out from boating down river from up river. Shallow shoals allow for easy access to the river. Just slippery when wet."
