"New year I went there to get some soups for the first time we drove All the way from Manhattan. THEY don't take credit cards I trying to talk to the guy behind the counter he was very Nasty to we ended up leaving with out nothing don't go there.."
"This a small shop with great food that's big on flavor. I had tasso, diri, sòs pwa ak yon kola ayisyen and everything was so flavorful! Good Haitian food has a layered flavor profile. It's not just food dumped in a pot with Costco spices dropped on top. It takes time and it takes a love for Haitian food to cook it properly. And this shows that care. At my first bite of sòs pwa I was in heaven. So smooth and rich and tasty. The tasso with its own sauce was rich--you can taste the marinade. And the rice was smooth and almost buttery. I had my eye out for this restaurant when I came to New York, and I'm so glad I did Note that they also let me order in Haitian Creole. I'm still learning to but they were kind enough to accept my efforts to speak their language. Very kind and generous people!"
"Tried this spot on a recent NY trip. The food was passable, not great. I did not end up finishing. I got the pork griot with djon-djon (black) rice and Haitian potato salad (typically made with beets and potatoes sometimes includes carrots). The potato salad has a tad bit too much mayo. Although edible, I did not particularly like it and would not go here again."
"Very Disappointed. This is about $100 worth of food that I ordered (wallet for reference in size). The portions are disappointingly small. The mac and cheese looks nothing like the picture. I was expecting haitian style mac and cheese just like picture but I got american style mac and cheese. This was supposed to be for 4 people, but it would barely fill 2 people."
"The black rice here is everything ! All natural real ingredients. The soursop juice has the freshest fruit in it. We ate fried goat chicken stew and goat Lalo all with black rice and the creole/hot sauce and the piklez was perfectly marinated/pickeled. Jack gave the best service he was friendly and gave us dessert on the house !"
