"Honestly I wouldn't come here again. Some food wasn't that good, some was decent. Vareniki with potatoes were decent. Olevye was good but we make it better lol. Home fries were completely lacking taste and very bland, absolutely no salt at all. The servers were nice and seemed quick but when one of them was asking if anyone wanted more alcohol, I said I did, he acknowledged me but then never actually poured it for me. Also finding parking was a nightmare, but we realized the beach parking lot was very close and only charged $2.50/hr so we finally parked there and it was a very short 5 min walk to the restaurant thankfully. This was in mid afternoon though, so at night it's probably hard to get a spot."
"In Russian we say "Так себе .. лучше дома поесть." in English its So So better eat at home for that much money ... Its two star place with 5 star prices .. The food was not that good .. mostly frozen stuff which was heated up .. Very disappointed... They have soups . which are good but the rest .. needs lots of improvements... The desert is very poor .. The service was ok again only because everything was precooked)) But not the way people expect . Why to spend so much money to eat frozen food ?? The atmosphere was good ..nice musician is on premises"
"Authentic in every way imaginable. Stuffed cabbage and beef stroganoff were amazing and we ordered the potatoes with mushrooms for our appetizer…oh my God! We loved the service, direct from the owner it seemed, no funny business. We sat right by the bar, where big mugs of Russian beer, vodka bottles and samovars came and went to tables of couples having a wonderful time. The back of the restaurant was a dance floor with Russian pop music and a DJ, lots of people dancing. Great stuff."
"Aggressively cold, thinly veiled rage type customer service. I sat 5 feet from a man behind a desk watching media on the computer, the general theme of which was loud domestic disputes, mistrust, and anguish. Dusty, pseudo fancy, dollar store holiday decor left up year round, a cornucopia of mismatched interior design styles. The leather wall runners with large rhinestones give sweet 16 energy and the TJ Max French bathroom elicits suburban housewife despair. The Jimi Hendricks and chimpanzee with headphones on posters set the mood for my borscht. I dined here cause it was right off the subway & I hadn’t packed a beach lunch. But I was told just now they changed their Google search to say Ukrainian restaurant when it is in fact a Russian establishment. That is deceptive and honestly adds clarity to what I experienced here. Even so, might be back for dinner"
"We decided to eat here after leaving the beach. The kids had the shnitzel with fries and I had the chicken noodle soup (clear soup with noodles) and my husband had the beef stew (contained beef and potatoes in a small bowl). I would give the food a 6/10. The reason why im giving 2 stars is because I ordered the creme brule when we first sat down to offer enough time for them to make it. Once I finished the soup they asked if I was ready for the creme brule and I said yes. The creme brule didn’t come for an hour so we decided to ask for the check and head home. It was listed on the receipt so I told them it never came out. They said they would bring it right out and I said it’s okay we are leaving now because the kids were tired. They brought it out 10 minutes later anyway and told us to wait. We had to take it to go because at this point we had been there for over an hour and a half. Pic below of the $11 creme brule they gave us. I’m sad we had to pay for that. Other than that, all was good!"
