"Spent a few nights here camping and it was very peaceful, even in the rain. The campsite hosts showers/bathrooms and each campsite has a fire pit to have your own private campfire’s. As always, be aware of bears as they will smell your food from miles away. So, make sure you put away all of your food back into your vehicle to be safe, no one wants to wake up to a black bear rummaging through your belongings. Enjoy the camping! It’s a great place to bring your family. 1 1/2 year update. Came back with my wife, brother and sister and had a great experience again. Very peaceful and calm. Very remote campground in the Pisgah National Forest. Would always recommend to anyone looking to really get away deep into the forest."
"This campground is a amazing! The campsites are a good distance from each other and it has easy access to the Mt. Mitchel hike. We also saw 3 bears! Call that a nice wild immersion!"
"Our stay at Black Mountain Campground was one of the best camping trips we've ever had. The campground we originally booked a site with closed unexpectedly and the folks at Black Mountain were so friendly and accommodating. The swimming hole and hiking trails were great, and the camp hosts were all so personable and helpful! Our kids loved making friends in the big field, which was also amazing for stargazing!"
"Great camping and hiking. Wonderful camp hosts, Candy and Kevin, who went above and beyond to help us when we had car trouble (dead battery, low tire pressure). Shout out to Kevin who promptly and capably fixed these issues. He was prepared and knowledgeable. We always enjoy camping here."
"Thank you Kevin and Candie for being such great camp host. Kevin went the extra mile to make sure my cousin and I had a great spot, site 15 was peaceful with the sounds of the creek. The restrooms and showers were clean. Kevin and Candie were attentive, friendly host and checked in on campers to see if they needed anything. The campground is beautiful. Easy access to Mount Mitchell trail head."
