"What's in a name? The Hiker Refuge Hostel exemplified its name as I was coming in from a bad storm and Robert and April wasted no time in welcoming me and helping me get warm and dry. The hostel is very affordable ($20/night), convenient to the Appalachian Trail, clean and comfortable with a well stocked resupply closet. They also shuttle hikers into town for resupply and food runs as well as excellent slackpacking options (for an additional fee). It's quite evident that Robert and April genuinely care about the hikers who stay at their hostel."
"Came in after 5 days Nobo. Welcome break. Endless hot water, shower, bunk & ride to town for hot grub & supplies for $20! April & Rob are super accommodating & wealth of knowledge. Steep uphill slog on the trail but worth it."
"The Refuge was a true blessing for us. They picked us up from the AT at the 19E road crossing. It was so clean and comfortable that we stayed an additional night and slackpacked. Shower, Laundry, Town Run for food and great resupply options for $20 a night. The owners were super friendly and accommodating. They really care about the success of their hikers."
"WOW. That’s all I can say! Well, not really bc I’m gonna say much more on here. 1) SUPER affordable. $20 a night!? In the US, where can you get that anymore!? 2) SUPER COZY. Seriously, the vibe is on point and if you’re used to hostels around the world like I am, you’ll LOVE this place. 3) Hospitality. The owners are awesome. Very easy to deal with and respectable. SO, if you’re on the AT or coming up to ski ⛷️ like me; THIS is the place to stay! Only downfall, not much cell service but they have WiFi that’s strong enough for text, web surfing and calls. Just no streaming. But thats it, a very small negative. 10/10 for me. If you’re thinking about it, debating it, DONT, just come here! PS just call them as they aren’t on booking or Airbnb"
"This is a hiker hostel, with all the amenities a thru-hiker on the AT might desire. Most importantly, the owners and hosts are some of the most gracious and wonderful people I've met. I'm super impressed by the building, which they built from the ground up. The hostel downstairs is rustic, cozy, very well-made, and clean."
