"Some sites in upper loops are tight. Park staff are strict about the rules. Beautiful park."
"What a treat it was to stay here for a couple of nights! Being campground hosts in NC, we appreciated the hospitality and how well taken care of the campground is. The Doe river and the Fred Behrend trail were wonderful. So many deer in the campground and surrounding area!"
"Fine campground on the Doe River with paved roads & parking pads, water, electric (except tent area), picnic table, fire ring, & grills. The parking pads are "level enough" - plan on doing some leveling, except perhaps in the flat area (camp area 1) behind the check in station. The roads into the other areas are pretty steep, especially in area 5 - even though the site driveways are nearly level, you'll need to back uphill into the driveway for most sites. The check in station is also the camp store, with some basic supplies. Behind the store, beside the entrance to camp area 1, is the dump station. You'll need to make some moderately sharp turn in the parking area to get positioned at the dump station. Dumpsters are also located in this parking lot - nearly .4 miles from my campsite. The bathhouses are small but clean. Update: I had a 1-bar Verizon cell signal when camping in the vicinity of bathhouse #5, but when I camped near bathhouse #4, I had no signal. The park's (unsecure) Wifi was good at both campsites for me."
"Great campground. Water at each site. Firewood $6. Laundry room. Close to the state park with play ground tennis courts. Hiking trails. Rhododendrons everywhere and they bloom in July."
