"I’ve been coming here for 13 years and I think I’m giving up. The bagels and pastries are decent but the woman who works the register is so rude, and treats customers with not only indifference but outright hostility. If your order or change are wrong, she will fight you. It’s so extreme it’s like that themed restaurant where people go to have servers be intentionally rude. They also have a completely arbitrary credit card minimum that they choose to enforce some days but not others. Today I stopped in to get a bagel, and after being completely ignored by the notorious cashier for several minutes while she messed with her phone and didn’t even acknowledge my presence, she lashed out at me when I tried to politely get the attention of someone in the back, thinking they could prepare my order until she was ready, and then she refused to take my order because it was less than $10 and I had no cash, even though it was clearly a very slow day. I could easily have stopped at one of the 3 other bagel places on the same block but mistakenly went to Champignon first out of misplaced loyalty. No more…just go to Grabstein’s around the corner. The bagels are better there anyway."
"Two buttered toasted everything bagels and a large mocha. Service was subpar. Had to remind them I got two bagels after I only received one. The mocha was mediocre. Pricy altogether. With the average credit card service fee being 1.3% to 3.5%, they have theirs at 4% so making money off of you either way. Won’t come back again."
"Complete breackfast and Lunch service in Upper East Manhattan. Fresh insalate, pastry, cakes, cold or Hot sandwiches, omelette, wraps, fruit, bagles, razonable prices. Diligent service. Take in or street tables. Take out or delivery Avaliable. Quiet place in a bussy neighbor. Pleasent stay."
"This is my LAST visit to this Cafe! The cashier was super rude. I bought two drinks and paid $20 cash. He gave me $2.50 instead of $12.50 without receipt. Around 5 minutes later when I realized he gave me $10 less, I went back immediately and told him the situation. He said there were too many customers in last 7 minutes and he can't remember it. Although I explained three times, he still doesn't believe me! He had a very bad attitude and said "I can give you the money but it depends on you"! He was never sorry for his mistake and he never want to give me back my own money. I was super embarrassed and left without the money! I should never went back with my baby and my little girl. Worst shopping experience ever! I can't stand his rude response to the customers. I live in the neighborhood and definitely will remember the awful experience whenever I pass by."
