"Waitress wonderful! Chef wonderfully flexible. We bought two separate dinners and asked if they would divide them in half so we could share both plates without making a mess at the table. The answer was..yes! Awesome! Food was excellent!"
"The rib eye literally had no seasoning and the marsala had an odd taste to it. The fries are killer and the scallops are to die for."
"We’ve been enjoying Grandpa Sam’s for 20 years and have never been disappointed. Truly a hidden gem of the Westside that rivals any traditional Italian cuisine in the Greater Rochester Area. Fresh ingredients, lovely atmosphere, and friendly service are staples of this intimate well-run restaurant. The expansion / renovation resolved the only issue they had ever experienced - not enough space to satisfy the demand."
"I went to Grandpa Sam's last night. There was 8 in my party. I was very surprised to order eggplant and have to pay extra for a mozzarella topping as this is always a given whenever I've ordered it from any other restaurant. Aside from that, it always comes with a pasta. Which is what is stated on the online menu. However mine did not. It was just eggplant with a side of asparagus. Which I changed to escarole. I added the extra 3.00 charge for mozzarella . I started to enjoy what was put in front of me until it came to a hair under my escarole. That ended it for me. They did offer me something else but at that point I had lost my appetite. I totally understand that this can happen and tried not to make to big of a deal out of it. It was said that we would not be charged for my meal. However, when the bill came . The charge for my meal was on there. Again, not to make a scene we didn't say anything, paid the bill and left. Having said that ... as I said everyone else enjoyed there meal . But I felt they should have made sure we were not charged for my meal which fell short on several counts. Hesitate to ever go back."
"Our first visit was for dinner on a Friday night. We had reservations and were seated immediately. Our server, Jill, was very friendly and informative. She explained the daily specials and got us started with drinks. Our soups were housemade, fresh and hot. My wife had Italian wedding soup and I had the seafood bisque, which was excellent, rich and chunky. Salad was served family style with a very nice house Italian dressing. Our entries were excellent. My wife had butternut ravioli and I had seafood fra diavalo, with shrimp, clams, scallops, mussels and calamari. Jill was attentive to our needs even as the entire dining room filled up and they had a private party going on as well. Highly recommended to us and we highly recommend to you. We will be back!"
