Dollar General

"I'm very sad to say my visit warranted such a negative review. I visited this DG location with my elderly family member to buy some Christmas wrapping supplies. I very rarely visit this location, I much prefer the locations in Wilson / rt 104, both of which are very decent. We finished shopping (with baskets) & went to check out, we were met with one employee (I'm assuming the manager based on background conversation) who was cashing out/helping a different customer & told us very abruptly that the self checkout was open that accepts cash and card. Both my family member & I had a basket full of items to check out. It was fairly inconvenient, as my family member is elderly & does not understand how the self service system works. I cashed them out, alongside myself. It took 10 minutes due to all of our items. We had to place our baskets/grocery bags on the floor just to have enough room on the limited counter place. There were two gentleman in line behind us with an arm full of items who could have been in & out if we were not at the self checkout. I felt sorry knowing our transaction held them up but we were basically forced to check ourselves out. I couldn't help but say to my family member on the way out how dysfunctional that particular DG was, with the manager overhearing me & another customer looking at me in shock. I completely understand not receiving a top notch interaction in a DG anywhere, but this was a little ridiculous. One staff member on the floor & a constant stream of customers. If the employee we encountered today was actually the location manager, then this DG is in desperate need of a replacement."

"Bought an empty box of flea medicine for our cat. Now have to drive back over there tomorrow. So inconvenient! It has a sensor on the box but the box was opened from the bottom. Apparently they should hire someone just to watch cameras. Whoever stole this is obviously desperate but there is no excuse!"

"The store was SO CLEAN!!! The staff is super kind and very helpful! Everything is very well organized, and staffbis always seen organizing the shelves!! This makes shopping here so relaxing!"

"Employees generally friendly and helpful. If I have a question it's answered. If they are unsure will go find the answer or product unlike other stores that point or say i dont know and walk away. Generally a positive experience."
