"I love this dollar general, all the staff is very professional. John is really about the customers, very friendly, quickest cash out I've ever had every time and he is very helpful. ~ your favorite Raider nation customers."
"Lady had issue in front of me that required the manager who was outside on break. Clerk went to signal fer her and was like 5 minutes before she deceided to come in..."
"I just moved to Barker and this is the only store within a few minutes drive of the house. It has most random things you find yourself in need of between grocery trips or drives into Lockport. The layout of the store feels slightly congested but it's always clean and the staff is always friendly."
"I will gladly write the first review for the new Dollar General in Barker. I’ve never ever been so compelled to write a negative review as I was for this store based on the interaction I just had. Being that the store is new I figured I would stop by and get a few things I could easily have gotten at the nearby Crosby’s as I always have. One of the items I happened to be trying to purchase was a tobacco product. I was asked for my ID which I always appreciate being asked for. What happened next still has me baffled. The woman at the counter who also happened to be an Assistant Manager per her name tag held it up to the light and stared at it for a good 10 seconds (fine, maybe they had a recent fake ID). She then takes my ID and says I’m going to go look at my ID. She then takes my ID and goes to the back office for a minute or so and says she can’t sell it to me...what? She said because my ID says “not for federal purposes” on the upper right corner, and her personal ID does not say that, she couldn’t sell it to me. I proceeded to tell her that I buy said product every day and no one has ever said that to me and I’ve never had an issue before. She still said she could not sell it to me. I asked to speak to a manager (which I don’t think I’ve ever done in my life) to which she said she was the manager...great. I finally asked is this a federal purpose and she said yes...buying tobacco is a federal purpose...my jaw dropped but I bit my tongue. I left and went to the gas station down the street to buy the same products. After checking my ID through both their lottery ticket system and scanning it, they sold me my product...just as they had hundreds of times before. I told them are you sure everything is ok with my ID? Do you have any issues with it at all? I told them the story and they just laughed. Safe to say I won’t be returning to the Dollar General in Barker. My business may not mean anything to them but come on, what the heck was that. Their employees might want a refresher on their ID policies and make sure they are universal across all Dollar Generals, because the one in Gasport didn’t question anything the other day when I bought the same product there. My ID in question was just issued to me in within the past three months when my previous one had expired. I chose the standard ID instead of the Enahanced or Real ID options. Something to do with domestic flights being the only difference. Bad customer service DG, bad service."
