"I'm from Florida so I'm spoiled: within a minute drive I have Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Publix, Fresh Market and Piggly Wiggly. I regularly shop at all but the last. Up here in rural NY there is no such luxury of choice. I went in for one thing, delicata squash. It's fall, but no, they didn't have any. Very few squash at all. Store was crowded with boxes and junky displays, chaotic layout. It was messy with grimey floors. Understaffed. Despite the name "Freshtown" they mostly carry processed food in cans, boxes, or freezers. I bought a few things but then drove back to Millbrook's tiny Marona's Market where indeed they had my squash."
"Excellent selection of everyday and exotic foodstuffs. Nice seasonal offerings. Grinders for coffee and customized peanut butter. Friendly staff and management. Good organization of aisles. Very large parking lot on-site. Recycling of cans, bottles, plastic bags, and self-serve refills of water carafes."
