"The Colton Dollar General store is not easily accessible for persons with mobility disabilities and handicap parking is obstructed by merchandise in front of the doorway. According to a federal lawsuit, Jennifer Rossman wanted to shop at the Dollar Generalin Oneonta but large stocking carts, cardboard displays and merchandise stacked in aisles and outside the store’s entrance deter her. On or about June 3, 2017, Jennifer Rossman visited the Dollar General at 76 Chestnut St. in Oneonta, NY and couldn't navigate in her wheelchair around the store because there were obstacles, including merchandise stacked on the floor and in aisles, the suit said. Aisles were blocked or narrowed by large stocking carts or cardboard merchandise displays, the suit said, and items arranged outside the store blocked the curb ramp from the parking lot to the entrance. The suit alleges that Dollar General Corp. and Dolgencorp of New York Inc. have violated the federal Americans with Disabilities Act and New York state executive and civil rights laws because their stores aren't accessible to disabled individuals who use mobility devices."
