"Idiot lifeguards at a splash pad? Who does this & why? Newton seems to be spending too much money on stupid things and not getting to the important things it takes to run a city. Wow, just wow."
"This facility is large, new, clean, and well staffed. My son (4) enjoyed all the water features and had plenty of room to play. A great place to spend the afternoon. It is asisanine that your child can't bring in a water bottle, though. I understand outside food, but no water?"
"I understand that you guys are wanting to make sure things are safe before opening...what I don't understand is why you guys continue to lie every time that I have called to ask when you guys were opening. The first time I was told at the beginning of June that it would be open in 2 weeks. 3 weeks later I call back and was told that it would be another 2 or 3 weeks. If you guys would just be upfront with everyone about what the real reason is, I'm sure people would stop asking about it. Anyways I've decided just to go elsewhere for the summer."
"It’s awful the Newton pool & splash pad is not open who’s in charge ???? At Halloween time no tricker treating in the town like before????Newton has went down hill ??? So we will be going to maiden or statesville."
"The splash is nice and I do like how open it is. All the water objects aren't so close together and it has a nice open feel to it. I like that there's a tall iron fence around the splash pad so children can't get out and it wouldn't be easy for someone to reach over and grab a child without anyone noticing. It's a good place to take your children to splash around in water on a hot day and burn some energy off while parents soak up the sun. The few things that are a little disappointing (I know the people working there have no control over it) 1. It's a $1 for each person to get in the splash pad and the pool. $1 isn't bad at all for the pool and splash area but considering the pool is NOT going to be open all year because they can't find a lifeguard to work there. They should wave that fee till then. 2. You also can't bring any outside food or drinks in. You have to buy from there concession stand and trust me everything is over priced. This part wouldn't bother me one bit if the pool was open but just the splash pad area is open. So my kids are constantly thirsty and want to snack. It can get very expensive within just a few hours. My suggestion would be to either wave the $1 fee for the splash pad. Or keep the fee and allow outside food and drink with maybe some restrictions on what's allowed in till the public can have access to the pool. Over all it's a nice little splash pad for little children. Bigger kids get bored fast. That's when the "I'm hungry & thirsty" comes into play! It would be so convenient for me to visit here 3 to 4 time a week because I only live 3 minutes away but because of certain circumstances I'll probably go to the Maiden Recreation Splash Pad which is 5 minutes from home because i can pack lunch for the kids, they have the park right next to the splash area. My older children can play back and forth while my younger children play in the water and i can easily watch all of them. Also its free for the Maiden Splash area. Now a days us parents are needing to keep the children busy, burning energy, in the sun playing with other children for a very VERY cheap. Like FREE CHEAP! Like most this C19 took a toll on my husbands and my savings also my children's emotional health. Getting them back out and playing without a mask on suffocating them is what parents and kids need without us having to drain our banks to do that. I hope anyone taking the time to read my review understands where I'm coming from. I'm not complaining or upset over a $1 fee. But I'm one of the parents that had to stay home with my children when they went out of school for this C19 and my husband having to work overtime just so we can break even on living expenses. Being tight on money with 4 bored children during summer is making parents get creative on a low budget level if you get what I'm talking about."
