Millennium Hotel Durham

"Very nice motel. The girl that checked us in was very sweet! We had to spend the night after my husband had surgery. Dr wanted him close by for tonight. Would stay again if needed! Or just to get away."

"I would give 5 stars if the A/C unit in our room worked properly. As is the hotel staff was willing to relocate us to another room but we declined since we had already unpacked everything. The room itself was great and the hotel staff was very kind and considerate. While we did smell a peculiar odor near the elevator and mentioned it to the hotel staff. It later cleared up and it was believed that someone held in the smoked substance until they got to the elevator. There was no peculiar odor other than that. I will admit other reviews had me worried about an odor but after staying at multiple places I can say this was one of the better experiences we have ever had. There is a fee and a room deposit but it was nothing extreme for a fancier hotel. I have had similar things at 4-5 star hotels so I was not bothered by it."

"Good value and super friendly staff. This hotel is aging but one of the best values in the area. The front desk staff is super friendly along with the head of housekeeping. My favorite is a gentleman named Bryan (spelling?) that works the day shift at the desk. He is always helpful and friendly and interesting to chat with. It really makes for a great stay when staff treats you like family."

"Hotel needs updating. New carpet, newer higher quality amenities. Fitness center is very underwhelming. About the size of a child’s room with 3 machines and just 2 35lb dumbbells. Also there were smells of old carpet throughout the hotel. I would really say this business is maybe a step above a red roof inn type of motel."

"I came to Durham with my husband to go to Duke hospital. I was so surprised to find out that Durham had a Millennium hotel because I stayed at the Millennium Knickerbocker in Chicago and loved it. When you first arrive and walk into the lobby you would think that you were staying at a nice hotel but that is not the case. As soon as you walk down the halls all you smell is weed. The smell is so strong you can get high on contact. Not only are you smelling weed but as you walk down the halls you see drug needles and multiple guest in rooms doing the deed. This hotel is not a hotel that you will stay for vacation or with your family but to stay at if you are looking for a good time. This is just walking down the halls, the rooms are even worse. The bathroom door did not work so you don’t get any privacy. There is stains and the rooms smells very moldy. I wouldn’t be surprise if there was mold behind the walls. I also found multiple dead roaches in the room. I decided to check the mattress and it was absolutely disgusting that I didn’t trust sleeping on the mattress and went elsewhere. This is just the worse hotel I have ever stayed at in my life and I would not recommend anyone to stay here. I am honestly surprised that this hotel is not shutdown. This hotel was so horrible and I was so shocked that it was park of the Millennium brand that I searched to find the company that owns it I and will never stay at another Highgate Hotel again because if they treat this hotel like this then all their hotels must be treated like this. And on top of it. I also speak Spanish and the things that the staff was saying was so unprofessional. I’m not sure if they were talking the way they were about the hotel and guest because they think the guest staying at the hotel do not speak Spanish."
