Intracoastal Long-Term Rentals

"DO NOT RENT WITH INTRACOASTAL! WORST RENTAL COMPANY IVE EVER DEALT WITH! Elizabeth was our rental agent and we could never get in touch with her because she was "busy." We dealt with a mold problem and they took their time on the repairs. I was forced to move my bed into the living room for 2 months because my bedroom drywall and flooring was ripped apart in an effort to remove the mold. After they hired a company to "clean" the mold they refused to pay for a test to make sure the mold was actually cleaned. So I paid out of my pocket to test the mold and surprise; there was still mold; some of which were harmful. Which me and my 10 month old son had negative reactions to. I've rented many houses and I've always got near to my full security deposit back. They charged me for a screen door that had dry-rotted, the replacement of boards under the sink that were MOLDED due to poor ventilation (mold grew everywhere in this house), they charged me for damages that a company THEY HIRED are responsible for, and charged me for overgrowth in the back yard that was there before I moved in, and I was charged for the replacement of 12 feet of deck board that was damaged by weather. Not to mention I was never reimbursed or pro-rated for *unusable space* when the bedroom was unusable for over 2 months (which is illegal). Honestly I could write 2-3 pages on how unprofessional this office is. They're a lot of good companies to rent from in the Wilmington area, but intracoastal is not one of them. I will be submitting a lawsuit in the near future for unsafe living conditions, for not reimbursing for unusable space, and for all the charges for damages that I was not responsible for."

"One of the worst rental experiences I have ever had. Angela was our agent and I have nothing negative to say about her. She was always professional and responsive but unfortunately, she left the company right as we were moving out. We left our place absolutely immaculate. We even had it professionally cleaned the day before we moved out. Angela even called and told me the place looked excellent during her walkthrough. When I received my security deposit check I was floored. They charged me over $100 for exterior items that are clearly the responsibility of the HOA. Additionally, we were charged $600 for touching up nail holes (that I filled). How can a contractor justify $600 for paint touch up on nail holes? The contractor they are using is putting ridiculous mark ups on these items and apparently nobody at Intracoastal cares. I have stopped in the office multiple times, called dozens of times, and sent their office several emails that go unanswered. Lori told me she would look into this at the end of August and still have not received a response from her (This has been ongoing for 4 months now and she has yet to call me back even once) I even sent her images I took of every single room before we moved out for her to review. Ignoring a client for over 4 months is completely intentional. If they had the back-up to justify the $600 worth of painting, there would have been a response by now. Avoid."
