Reviews of Holly Hill Hospital - South Campus - Children and Adult Inpatient
"My young child is autistic and was dealing with a lot of issues that made living at home unsafe. This hospital turned her around in four days. I was in constant contact with her doctor to assist in her care. She was treated fairly, learned great coping skills and continues to follow them. Visitation and discharge were as expected. A typical stay is about a week, so plan accordingly with clothing and toiletries. Clothes can’t have any strings or holes, no leggings or skin tight clothes. Remember, this is a hospital not a residential unit."
"I was extremely concerned about my son going to Holly Hills after reading the reviews. We didn’t have any other option at the time. We were extremely pleased with the treatment that our son received. We were able to speak to him the same day as he arrived. We got our first update the same day. The Dr and therapists called us the next day. They spoke to us about our concerns and asked our view on medication. He was there about a week and we were able to talk to him everyday. We were able to visit during visiting hours. He has been home a couple of weeks and he expressed to me yesterday how much they helped him. He is working though his troubles but they helped him with a game plan. His favorite part about the hospital is the staff. He wasn’t as excited about the group therapy but it was good for him. He didn’t see any mistreatment of patients and never felt in danger. I’m leaving this review for other parents living the nightmare that I went through. Please let them help your child. It’s hard to turn your loved one over to someone else but at times is needed. Keep in mind that at times the staff is busy and that you may have to be patient when they are helping the kids rather than answering your call. I would not hesitate to send my son back if needed. Thanks to Holly Hills staff for being so amazing!! You saved my son and I am grateful!! I wanted to add an update. My son was able to get out patient therapy through Holly Hills and is helping him so much. He is treated well and has a close relationship with his therapist. He loves Miss Tye and feels comfortable talking to her openly. He has come to enjoy the group therapy that he hated. I highly recommend Holly Hills."
"Avoid sending loved ones here at all costs. Staff are abusive, food is stale, and girls often have their underwear taken and are refused access to clothes they brought. There is also not proper separation between those who want to hurt and those who have been hurt. I suggest the Hope Center for those who are struggling. Stay safe everyone ❤️"
"I was here three times, each time for about a week so roughly 21 days, and each experience I had there throughout the years I went was absolutely HORRIBLE, I went involuntary and voluntary. this place gave my younger self multiple traumatizing experiences I am still upset about today. The nurses and people watching us scared me, they were extremely rude when I was confused, and they threatened me if I wouldn't eat instead of help me through it. it is horrible the amount of kids I saw crying because of how nurses treated them including me. As well as when I had symptoms of Covid-19 back when I was there in 2020 they put me in my room completely alone in silence with absolutely NOTHING for a whole day until my mother got me out because I was getting getting highly depressed wanting to be out there with the other kids (i didn't have Covid) I would get picked on by a girl and not one person cared to help me with it. There is alot more I could write about this place but other people who have BEEN here have clearly stated it. Do not bring your kids here!! It was horrible and I get sick to my stomach remembering what I went through there."
"I was here for 9 days. When I was leaving they asked me if I would recommend this place to others, I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy. Aside from a few staff, they were rude and as it was my first time at a mental hospital, it wasn’t super welcoming. When I first got there I was put in a room by myself for a good 30 minutes, I heard a kid SCREAMING for a solid 20 minutes for the staff to get off of her and to stop touching her. Of course I do not know the situation, but hearing that was really discouraging. I cried for the first 2 days I was there. While I was there I saw lots of traumatizing things. Almost every one of my peers came in crying and stayed crying for days. The food was fine. There were fights all the time, I mean they stuck around 24 kids in a day room all day aside from the activity therapy, meals, and some time outside, that’s where we stayed. All of the group therapy’s and such were not beneficial we learned nothing there it was basically a babysitting place. I left with the same amount of knowledge as I had when I got there. It took days to get actual clothes, I stayed in a gown for 3 days. We were not allowed in our rooms during the day except for showers, if we needed alone time we sat in a room next to the day room. Also 3 in one? Seriously? Get some conditioner. The lotion dried ur skin out. I did make a few friends, but of course ur not supposed to keep those friends once u leave. My peers were the only thing that made the place tolerable. We had 15 minute phone calls and could only call one person. And if it was a visiting day and u had a visitor, u couldn’t make a phone call. There was a few days where we didn’t even get a phone call. Would not recommend but I love my 3 favorite staff they really did help, you just have to pick the good ones out of the bunch. Fix your system for real."
