The Center on Modernity in Transition, located at 616 Swift Avenue in Durham, North Carolina, is a hub for exploring the profound changes needed in our thinking to address the diverse crises facing humanity. Through conversations with renowned thinkers such as Cornel West, Akeel Bilgrami, Seyla Benhabib, Kwame Anthony Appiah, Ayça Çubukçu, Jeremy Engels, and Mary Louise Pratt, we delve into how spiritual traditions, cosmopolitan ideas, and the recognition of human oneness can shape our societies, selves, and visions of social change. Our research program is guided by the core principle of human oneness, seeking to transform the conceptual foundations of modern civilization. Co-sponsored by institutions such as New York University's Institute for Public Knowledge, The Rock Ethics Institute at Pennsylvania State University, and Duke University's Center for International Development, our discussions aim to inform a fresh and compelling vision of humanity's future possibilities.
