"Dr Rubens is wonderful! He explained everything and asked me questions to make sure I understood everything. He made sure I knew my next steps, plan of care, follow up, and what to do if I have any symptoms that warrant an ER visit. His nurse Maressa was simply the BEST! She was so patient, polite and caring. She really put my mind at ease. I wish she could train ALL nurses! Barbara was also so patient and kind. She was wonderful as well. I wish I remembered the nurse’s name who brought me back to the room and took my vitals. She was also very personable and friendly! I highly recommend Dr Rubens’ office and the Stone Center in general at Wake Med to anyone and EVERYONE in the area. All of my other Dr’s are at Duke and Duke ER dr’s are the ones that sent me to the Stone Center back in 2021 when I had my first stone. For another hospital system to refer you to the Wake Med Stone Center/Dr Rubens really says something about this practice!!"
"May I suggest that if you write ' see diagram below' that there is, actually, a diagram available to show what section of the catheter to cut. It would help if one could show how the KY jelly is to be applied between catheter and ureter to lubricate. Thank you for the shower suggestion, I must make sure the gs cylinder is full!"
"Dr. KATHRYN SHAW WILLIAMS is an amazing doctor and I would highly recommend. She spent so much time explaining everything and was so incredibly kind."
"I’ve had an exceptionally rough time with this office - specifically getting appropriate treatment for kidney stones with Dr. Rubens. I’ve had several tests and procedures that were - in my opinion - not medically necessary. When I asked about the reasons those tests and procedures were required to move through my treatment plan, explanations were short and seemed like I was inconveniencing the staff by asking. I still am unclear on my treatment plan, I have been forced to wait months with no answers just to have more tests, I have stones that I have no indication will be treated any time soon, and like another reviewer here I’ve received letters from Dr. Rubens which claim that I’m in danger of harm even though it can be months before he is available for visits."
"I had was referred to this office and was supposed to have an appointment 9/5/23. I went for my appointment and was turned away because my insurance was not accepted. I feel, by my experience my insurance should have been verified before my appointment. Being the medical field myself our office always verifies insurance before a patient would come in. To make things worse the receptionist was very rude. I hope procedures improve and also friendliness of front desk."
