Reviews
"This was my first time at the Knoxville location. The building was so plain and kinda depressing. The staff reflected the decor, very bland. However they were nice and very efficient. The Dr (Wright?) was great! Very personable and made me feel comfortable. He clearly knew what he was doing and explained everything. He was a bright spot in a sad place. Overall, very happy with my experience and would go back."
"This is a follow-up to part one of my review below. I just received a call from K.I.D management. It's interesting to note that they took the time to make a call AFTER I gave them a 1-star review. They provided an excuse which was "they take insurance from my provider, however my plan was not in-network". There was not even a hint of an apology or empathy for my situation. That says a lot about their character. The Knoxville Institute of Dermatology periodically provides services at my primary care physicians office. When I was in for an annual physical, K.I.D. was providing services that day. I presented my insurance card to their receptionist and asked if they are an in-network provider. She looked at my card, seemed to do some checking on her computer and told me that ARE in network and asked if I would like to schedule an appointment, so I did. I followed through with the examination on the scheduled date and time. Several days after the appointment, I received a bill for nearly $400. I knew this must be a mistake because according to my policy, I am only responsible for the co-pay for in-network providers. I called the number on the bill, and they informed me that they are NOT in-network. I asked what could be done to remedy the situation and they basically said, "tough luck", I must pay the entire amount. I decided to send in the normal co-pay amount while trying to resolve the issue with them and my insurance provider. In the meantime, they turned the unpaid balance over to collections. I would have NEVER scheduled the appointment if they hadn't misled me regarding their network status. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of trusting them. Their unwillingness to try and work with me in resolving this matter has caused undue stress in my life as I am currently on a fixed SS income. Also, the fee schedule for some of the services is ridiculously excessive. I can't believe the insurance companies put up with it, but I guess that's the case across the board in the US healthcare industry."
"Had some issues with my fingers and hands. Not only did Dr. Bowers look and provide a solution for my issue. He also looked at MRSA on my face and a not on my thyroid gland. Went to another dermatologist before hand and felt after a few trips they were more interested in giving fat lips, big breast and other big $$$ issues. My fingers and hands appear to be 100% better in one week. I have complete faith they will be completely healed along with my other issues in the coming weeks. Thanks again!!"
"Nurse and PA were very nice. Dr was nice but seemed rushed but in fairness it was the week after our big snow that shut things down for almost a week. So I'm sure they were running behind and trying to get caught up. Didn't offer a lot of information as to what my possible diagnoses were or why she felt biopsies were necessary. Just felt she could've been more informative."
"I had asked for an earlier appointment if there was a cancellation and I was able to get one the following day. I had a very short wait in the lobby and was brought to the exam room. Both Dr. Wright and Taylor, his assistant, were fantastic. Informative, caring and responsive. Could not have asked for a better experience."
