About the Business
The Social Sciences Research Institute (SSRI) at Duke University, located at 731 9th Street in Durham, North Carolina, is a hub for faculty, researchers, students, and staff to collaborate on social science research projects. Our institute focuses on addressing specific social science problems and fostering connections between Duke University and the broader community. We offer grant opportunities for faculty members to study a wide range of social science topics, with grants ranging from $5,000 to $25,000.
One of our research teams at the Data and Population Sciences (DUPRI) is using electronic health records to study the population health of children in Durham County. Additionally, we have partnered with MTV and other organizations to study voting access on college campuses.
We are excited to announce the appointment of Aria Chernik as Duke University's inaugural Assistant Vice Provost for Faculty Development and Applied Research. She will be leading efforts to support faculty research and innovation starting on May 1st.
The TRHT Center at SSRI focuses on changing beliefs, attitudes, and actions related to racism, addressing both its consequences and roots. We also offer workshops and seminars on topics such as data management, artificial intelligence in healthcare, and research funding opportunities.
