"This school allows children to be bullied, and physically assaulted. My son was ripped out of his chair (unprovoked as stated by Dean childs.) And kicked in the face. The student was suspended for a week then returned to class to sit and ridicule my son. Til I physically went into the school and raised my voice and demanded him to be switched to different class. " I thought it would be inconvenient and a lot of extra work for my staff to switch grades to new class. The second time he was assaulted with a deadly weapon (scissors)at dismissal in the boys bathroom the kid is not going to school for rest of year. That's it. I went and filed a police report. To which the officer looked at me and said. I've been to this school on numerous occasions. The principal and staff will not cooperate with us for any information. But I will try sir. What is it going to take? Another school shooting? A death? A hospital? When will they put in a effective system? A effective safety plan? This school system is failing children by allowing them to feel unsafe, and catering to the ones with the issues. Assault with a deadly weapon is a felony whether you are a minor or not."
"We have been here since the school opened. I cannot begin to express what a great experience it has been for us. My son is thriving and I am so thankful that we were given the opportunity for him to attend. Many negative reviews in my opinion are given by angry adults who exaggerate situations because they are frustrated. I never believe reviews that are written for nothing more than to destroy a reputation. There is a way for situations to be handled and if you have a problem you can explain the situation and why you are not happy without demeaning and undermining a reputation just to be hateful. Hands down a phenomenal school and anyone would be lucky to be part of our community."
"My children have had wonderful teachers for the past three years and my children love learning at MCA so I am happy! Our teachers have always been immediately responsive to concerns and very helpful. The arts department is a priority and Ms. Laney and Ms. Clink go well beyond their job requirements to make MCA a place where students can thrive in creative ways. It’s also exciting to see the sports programs taking shape."
"Honestly I don't even know where to start. We had problems with this school from the very first parent teacher conference. Our sons teacher spoke very negatively about other students in the class as well as other teachers in the school (by name). Very unprofessional... My son was being harassed by one of the students in the class and when he stood up for himself, he was the one who was disciplined. There were also multiple incidents of bullying, not only to my child, but others in the same grade and when I contacted the Dean about it, her response was that "It was just playing that may have gone too far." Seriously?!?! His teacher up and quit with only a month left in the school year. And the icing on the cake was when a parent volunteer accused my child of stealing and patted him down, like a criminal and he had taken NOTHING! There are not enough apologies in the world from the principal, Dean, etc... We won't be coming back to MCA and I would NEVER recommend this school to anyone."
"My daughter has attended MCA for 2 years. I have seen such a change in not only her grades but her attitude towards learning as well. I am grateful for the assessments the school did to familiarize with my childs strengths and weaknesses that have made her grades improve. I love the fact I can log onto my parent portal and look at her grades, pay lunch and keep track of her in general. The teachers are friendly and we look forward to another year of learning with MCA!"
