Reviews of Avery Eye Care Center
"Not providing a patient with a PD is one thing, but acting like it’s not your job when it LITERALLY is is another. Horrible customer service from staff and the doctor. I work at an eye doctor’s office about 45 minutes away from this office. I had a mutual patient come in with a prescription from this office wanting to get a pair of glasses from us. It did not have a PD (pupillary distance) on it which is required in order to make a pair of glasses. Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe that is the doctor who gave the prescription’s responsibility to provide. Regardless, I called the office and there was no answer. The message said their hours were “Wednesday’s” and that’s it…what? No times and open only one day a week? Anyways, I called again on the following Wednesday and a man answered the phone. I began explaining what I needed and then was abruptly cut off and told to “wait just a minute”. I then could hear him talking and it sounded like he was on another call with an insurance company. Whatever, I hang up. I call back the following Wednesday and a lady answers this time. I start explaining what I need and was cut off AGAIN. She says “you will need to call Dr.Williams” and gives me his number. I call the number and get his voicemail. I leave a message with my name, number, and why I was calling. I hear nothing back. The following Wednesday I call the Dr.‘s number again. This time he answers and I explain for the fourth time what I need. (Keep in mind this patient doesn’t live relatively close to our office.) “Did I write the prescription?” Dr. William’s asked me to which I responded “Well I can’t tell who’s signature this is but it has your office and your name on it.” He then asks me “Do you not have anyone there that can measure the PD?” Yes we do, but not without the patient physically here, and I explained this to him. “Why didn’t you measure it when he was there getting the glasses?” I don’t work up front , so I’m not even sure if he was ever physically here. “Well we assumed it would be on the prescription that you wrote.” He says “Well that’s a bad assumption.” …. Excuse me?? And that’s exactly what I said. “I don’t write the PD on any of my prescriptions, I leave that up to the guy that makes the glasses.” I laughed and said “Well thanks any-“ BEEP. He hangs up on me without a word! I would give this place 0 stars if possible."
"I've been going to Dr. Williams since I was around 12 years old and I'm now 32. Even after I have moved away, I still make the trip to Newland for my eye exams because I just don't trust anyone else to know me or my eyes like he does."
"I got the worst service EVER! I waited 10 weeks for my glasses and they were wrong. Then another week for replacements that didn't show up. All this time I was getting various excuses for the delay. Always simeone else's fault. I would recommend you go anywhere else."
"First this office isn't clean, it's very old and run down. They also have terrible customer service and aren't nice. I guess you can be rude to people because they have Medicaid? Idk, but I dont recommend this place. There's lots of nice offices in Boone that also take Medicaid."
"Dr. Andrew Williams was / is very rude & Unprofessional. The rehabilitation center I'm living in, took me on 6/23/16 -TO- Avery Eye Care Center for eye exam & new glasses. As of today haven't received or called to pick them up. On 9/23/16 it will be 3 months. Called Avery Eye Care Center office over 25 times & left messages with no call back. Had two staff members where I'm staying, go to his office. Dr. Williams told them I picked the glasses frames & they was on back over. I paid cash. Called his cellphone & got hung up on."
