Reviews of Wonder Years Child Care & Learning Center
"I sent all four of my kids to this childcare and two attended the NC prek program. The staff is great and the director will recommend!"
"My children have been attending Wonder Years for over 4 years now. A truly wonderful daycare that makes us feel like family."
"This place has taken care of my daughter for the last 5 years. Filled with beautiful individuals who take their jobs seriously. They love on and provide a safe learning environment for the children."
"Firstly let me share that this is my worst daycare experience ever!! Talk about unprofessional behavior. None of the workers know how to effectively communicate with parents. I am told my child has behavior issues. At home we see none as she just watches tv, does activities or play with her sibling. I'm not the parent who will deny any issues my children have but keep the children engaged. I think they have problems when they have to redirect kids. Workers want to just sit and watch the kids and would not mind if the kids would sit all day and do not speak. Children learn through play and evidently every play she engages they find a fault. So I was told on Wednesday that her last day will be Friday. Upon arriving there to pick her up I have to go to her original room to sign her out and when I got there to get her items the teacher said it was up front. I could not believe that another child's items was already in her cubby. They could not allow me to take my child with a little dignity. That was rather unprofessional and rude to any parent. I have no regrets. My child almost died there. They had her there the entire day not eating or drinking and she got a seizure about 3:00pm. When I got there the ambulance was there already, her lips were dried as he was dehydrated. They were like, she hadn;t eat all day and they did not notify me any time of day that she's not listening. Obviously these people do not know a real emergency. They have discussions with you about your child in open public and never care for one's privacy. All staff need to be properly trained to deal with children and parentss. You guys need zero star!!!! Do better!!!!"
"I pulled my child from here. One of her teachers I really like- she worked with my child to make sure she was content and always gave me an update of her day. The other one is dry and not genuine in her interaction with the children. One of the kids was running around and she only changed her tone because she realized I was still in the room. Classroom management doesn't seem to be a priority here. I understand we all work for a paycheck, but some passion for your job is needed in that field. Melissa (director) gave me one price ($150/week) during the tour which she wrote on the back of her business card, and when I went to sign the contract it was $155/week. I didn't mention because I didn't notice till a month later so MAKE SURE YOU READ EVERYTHING BEFORE YOU SIGN. You will be required to pay for weeks your child does not go. The response we got as to why is because "the lights and employees still need to be paid." An unprofessional answer in my opinion. Kinder care will let you pay prorated. Do your research and shop around. I had to give two weeks notice before getting my child out of there. She went for three weeks. Outside time is an hour a day. Not bad but there are other centers who offer 2 hours a day. Also I don't like that it's called a learning center and the children are taught by abcmouse and not the teachers. I admit I am comparing my experience to my other child's daycare experience at a different center years ago and he came out of there ready for preschool. I don't know the level of education of these teachers, but do know they passed a background check. On many afternoons when I picked my child up, the baby room had babies crying their little hearts out by the baby gate. I personally don't believe in leaving babies crying. There was only one teacher present on those occasions. In my opinion, they believe in the crying it out method and that's not OK with me. I would hate to have been a parent of a baby at Wonder Years. The center is very clean and very sterile. I appreciated this. I feel like they take great pains to offer a clean safe environment and they definitely look like a 5 star facility on paper and on the outside. Other than that, I really don't have positive feelings towards this place. Editing to add- my daughter has been with her new care provider for her second school year now. She has not once cried when I've dropped her off. At Wonder Years I had to schedule 10 min to my commute because she would not let me leave. She would cling to me for those 10 minutes and cry and was legitimately terrified. Because this has validated my awful experience at Wonder Years, I have changed my rating from two stars to one and only agree to leaving one star because they are clean and because I don't have a choice to leave zero. All in all, I do not recommend this daycare to anyone."
