Upchurch Elementary School

"This is the absolute worst school around in my opinion. Second grade teacher (Mrs. Revels) thought it was appropriate to ask my son if he wanted her to "mush his eye to make it blacker" along with some other comments that were made in front of another second grade teacher. I contacted the school immediately only to have the Assistant Principal tell me that she would make sure that it was looked into first thing in the morning only to call an be told that since they were taking benchmarks that she didn't want to interrupt......um, but it is supposed to be Ok for my son to sit in a class with the same teacher and test knowing that he is uneasy about being around the teacher???? I say NO!! Called Hoke County Board of Education and informed them of what was going on and was told that things should have been handled immediately and they would relay the message to the Superintendent since he was out for the day......again, dropped ball so as a parent I will just go downtown. Our children do not deserve to be spoken to the way that some of these teachers speak to our children....I understand that they have a stressful job, but that doesn't mean take frustrations out on a young child . Only gave 1 star because review would not post without it....I would actually give NO stars and say that they need new administration immediately! Jessica"

"this school sucks and doesnt have good security here pretty much kids could die easy! Plus my friends go here i don't anything to happen to them!"

"I have a special needs child and the staff was extremely unfriendly and rude. The teacher was also rude. This school has no security and the staff does not follow the proper protocol. I cannot wait to pull my child from this school. Worst experience."

"I attended here for thank god only the spring of 2003. ( 5th grade) It was almost a cultural shock. Coming from E.E miller a very nice mostly military brat school. Upchurch was Very run down, the back end of the school where my class room was stunk. The cafeteria was disgusting. However My home teacher was either from Australia or England I cant remember where but that was cool. It was slightly ghetto but at the same time country and backwards."
