"I have eaten here for years and never had a bad bite. This is one of those home cookin places where you can get country fried steak with white gravy for breakfast. My favorite breakfast spot in matthews especially when you factor in the price. Nothing fancy, just old school real deal food."

"This is my favorite breakfast spot and a regular place for my family to meet. My favorite thing about it is the wide open space, the fact that you never feel rushed here, and the generous portions. Also, it’s reasonably priced. I always order the Greek omlette with hash browns and biscuits with coffee. It’s enough of a portion size to only eat half for me. It’s yummy and I almost never branch out from this selection. My grandsons ordered chocolate chip waffles and pancakes. They are allergic to food dye and these items (including the syrup) are dye free. They so enjoyed the food. The staff has long retention as we see the same wait staff over many years. They are patient with children, very attentive and personable. I miss the pond and the ducks that they used to maintain for our viewing pleasure. It made a spectacle to keep the kids entertained while the adults enjoyed visit over the meal. They have a large mural and a fountain in which the kids enjoy throwing my change. We will keep coming back as long as they remain a Matthews staple."

"Jonathan's is a very expensive restaurant. It is a basic family restaurant that is very dated, but decent. Our server was very nice and put in our food the way we ordered it. The desserts are out front as you come in. They are small and not priced. I ordered a piece of chocolate pie that looked like a piece of Sara Lee or Mrs. Calendar's frozen pie. It was cut sloppy and very small. They charged 8.00 for the pie. We had a simple burger and a sandwich along with the pie I ordered. The total bill for this little bit of food was 37.00. When I questioned the bill at the cash register, the clerk was rude and looked it me in a condescending manner. She said we ordered expensive things. How is a simple burger and sandwich expensive items? I have no clue. UPDATE: Ate here again last Saturday. I found a bug adhered to and cooked on top of one of my French fries! The server took the evidence to someone in the kitchen and get this I was ONLY offered MORE FRIES! I thought to my self YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING!!!! That was a BIG HUGE NO THANK YOU!! The server did not adjust the bill saying that's what they offered you know what I mean. Even the cashier attempted to make me pay for the food too until she saw I would not back down on it. I did remain professional. She went to the back and cane out and took off the charge for my food. I will NEVER go back there much to my significant other's chagrin!"

"During my recent dining experience, I had the pleasure of indulging in a delicious meatloaf dish at the restaurant. The homemade gravy and mashed potatoes were both delectable and certainly worth mentioning. I must also express my gratitude for the consistently outstanding service provided by the staff. However, I did notice a slightly unusual taste in the unsweetened tea, which may suggest the need for further attention to cleaning. Overall, I had a pleasant experience and appreciate the efforts of the restaurant staff."

"Great little restaurant! Been coming here for around a year to get breakfast. Lisa is the best servicer there is. I highly recommend this place to anyone wanting an awesome restaurant where you have a little space around you with an very nice atmosphere! Food is great and priced fair compared to other establishments. You will not be disappointed!"
