"Decided to try something new for restaurant week. Wish we had chosen somewhere else. The service was ok; our server rarely checked on us, but others made sure our drinks were filled. The garlic knots were the best part of the whole meal. The baked meatballs were cold, and came out with our salads. Thought that was a little odd. Someone brought our main plates and tried to sit them down on our small table without taking other items (the server actually grabbed my husband's salad while he was still eating it). My chicken piccata was swimming in juice, was a little cold, but tasted ok. My husband's chicken primavera was good. We asked for our desserts to go and the pictures show what was given to us. For $100.00, I expect better food and way better service."
"Had the Queens Feast special and enjoyed our girls'night out with Great food and great service. Thanks Lindsey! Love the quaint, smaller family style restaurant! I will go back there and I'm looking forward to it! The pizza looked really good, so that's what I'll try next time!"
"The food was amazing. I went with friends for restaurant week today. I had the tomato and burrata crustini, kale Caesar salad, salmon bruschetta, and the cannoli. Friends had the meatball appetizer.. Must say the meatball won over the burrata.. The burrata was good but the meatball was amazing. The flavor was delicious and well seasoned. My main dish was absolutely top tier, chef's kiss.. The salmon was perfectly cooked and the vegetables with the bruschetta were so flavorful absolutely delicious. Cannoli was perfect. Our waiter Michael was great. And Laurie was so fun and pleasant. We asked for the chef to come out to give him his flowers. Chef George.. Make sure he's working.. Everything was great ❤️"
"Listen up, paisanos! I’ve been hunting down real deal NY-style Italian grub in Charlotte ever since I relocated two years ago. Let me tell ya, it’s been a wild ride. Many places yap about having “the best” NY-style Italian, but they wouldn’t know a good meatball if it smacked ‘em in the face. My taste buds don’t lie, so buckle up for the lowdown on Basilico Italiano. Rolling up to this joint, the garlic aroma hit me like a subway train – bada bing, bada boom! I strut in, stomach growling, eyes bigger than my plate. First up, the famed meatballs. Holy cannoli, it’s like they’ve been pinched straight from Nona’s kitchen – tender, seasoned to perfection, not your average meat wad. Pro tip: snag a garlic knot and craft yourself a mini meatball hero. You’re welcome. Then comes the Sunday special – lasagna so good it’ll make you weep tears of joy. We’re talking eight layers of cheesy, meaty, pasta-laden bliss. It’s like a hug from an Italian grandma you never knew you needed. The sides? Fuhgeddaboudit! Penne with vodka sauce so creamy and flavorful, you’d think they’ve got a secret agent in Italy. And that eggplant parmigiana? It’s a symphony of crispy eggplant, gooey mozzarella, and heavenly sauce, nestled on a bed of spaghetti. Let’s gab about the ambiance. The place is cozy, with a swanky bar smack in the middle. Sure, it’s a bit dark with those gray walls and black ceiling, but who needs sunshine when you’ve got mood lighting and a plate of pasta? And the tunes? Classic Italian-American crooners serenading you while you dine – mamma mia! Service? Top-notch. Haley, our waitress, was on point – quick, friendly, and knew when to check in without being a nuisance. A real gem! Now, the highlight? That lasagna and the godsent meatball. Best in Charlotte, hands down – and only available on Sundays, so mark your calendars. I’m already plotting my next visit. They’ve got live music, catering (hello, office parties!), and leftovers that taste like a piece of heaven. If only it were closer, I’d be a regular like Tony at the Bada Bing!"
"If you see my reviews, I score every one 5. Can't today. This is a story of two very different experiences here. On Sunday, Had a party of 9. Family in from all the country. Being Italian, we thought we tried this classy local Italian restaurant. Our server, Brett, was attentive. We ordered the Calamari, which was tender and tasty. Veal Marsala, pasta Alfredo w bacon, chicken piccata, and lasagne were on point. I dropped over $400 for dinner. Honestly, I couldn't wait to go back. So two days later we go and sit at the bar. There was only one other couple at the bar. The female bar was really not interested in helping. As we sat down, she asked if we knew what we wanted without even cracking open the menu. The TV was off. She had lots of opportunities to engage us. But that level of service was reserved for regulars. If she knew you. You got taken care of. Asked for the check, which took a while. She was busy chatting to the regulars. Had the veal marsala again. Wow, it was totally different. They did not let the sauce reduce enough. I had marsala soup/broth. Piccata was good. Two people dropped $60 So what did we learn. 1. Don't sit at the bar unless you're a regular or you won't get service. 2. Go on Sunday when the A Team in the kitchen is working. 3. Only go when Brett is working. Seems like the only person interested in taking care of the customer. 4. For the price point, you would expect elevated service and food. This was not the case on the second night. There are other choices. Be awhile before I go back. And if I did, it would be on a Sunday"
